Best powder for 22-250 7.5 twist

Just a thought... unless you are looking to shoot way beyond 400 yards shooting the 75+ grain bullets out of the 22 250 offers virtually no advantage. I built an 8 twist '250 around the 75gr amax . It knifes through the wind like a demon but I found 90% of my predator shooting is under 250 yards and I missed having a faster bullet at these ranges. I switched to 60 gr bt's. Will see this year how they work. Ymmv... good luck!

First off i doubt ill be shooting out past 400 yards. I have my 6 Dasher that i use for groundhogs, its just to heavy 14.5# for fox & coyote hunting.

I was able to get out after work Monday and I was able to get 30 rounds through to get it broke in a little ( cleaning it every 5 shots ) and I shot a mix of factory and handloads all 55gr but some were soft points some polymer points.

While i did hang a very large piece of paper on the backstop to get an idea where and how the bullets were hitting. While this was mainly to get some lead down the barrel, I did learn that while some shots left a small hole where i was expecting some others flew off by feet and you could see the billets hitting the paper sideways. While I initially didn't really pay attention to which was which towards the end it seemed as though the soft points stayed together but the polymers didn't stay together as well.

So I'm hoping that the 69gr. Will shoot great & if not I have some 77gr Sierra to give a try.

Thanks

That is one Beautiful rifle!
This is the load that has killed many Coyotes over the years. 300-500 yds. easy
I use these 69's and really like the RDF70's from Nosler. My old standby powder is Varget, that was the question you asked.
22-250 12 twist , works even better in my new 9 twist.
34.2 Varget (2 grains over max load) work up to it (Sierra's data) safe in my rifle
69 Nosler CC
2.450 Col.
Rem Brass
WLR Primer
3400+fps
99% of my shots while calling are 200 yards or less in the western deserts of Central Oregun.
