Powder Suggestion for 223.

This past year, I was also using 25grs of RL15 with the Berger 90VLD. V=2785 fps. It was never hot and did work very well in 95 degree heat. In rifles that have a shorter throat say for an 80 grain bullet, yes it would be considered hot! But, in a rifle where the chamber has been throated correctly, I feel that pressure problems will be significantly reduced.

I've tried most if not all the powders mentioned above.

If you have seen the claims for Hodgon's CFE223 and thought them the stuff of fairy tails, I can assure you they are not. In fact, in all my .223 rem. rifles and also .243WSSM rifles, the Hodgon claims are proven to be very, very modest.

The proof was seen in my borescope and also on my targets.

My only gripe was that when trying to work up the best load it was hard to decide where the nodes were since groups were very nice at the minimum I tested all the way up until I approached the max published powder charge.

4 different rifles 6 different bullets all same same

I decided to try CFE223 when a friend made pretty much the same claim--he was right--another friend I passed this info to has mentioned that while his ladder tests were more like normal -CFE223 was the best powder he had ever tried to tune in his .223 rem. we're all now owners of large jugs of the stuff -- 3 different lot#
