Powder Price Increased !!!!

These days I shoot primarily 223 Rem bolt rifles. I get about 290 loads out of 1 lbs. container of powder.
The .223 bolt gun is the most under-rated rifle. We're running a Tikka 23.75" with 88 gr ELDs. The thing tracks very closely to 6.5CM out to 1300 yards. 15.0 mils.

I see guys on the other forums who have a range with a max of 400 yards or so, and they're weighing out which caliber can get them out that far. "Do I need to go with 338 Lapua??"

The Sling Shooters shooting Palma 8,9and 1000 yards have gone to .223 with 88gr.
They state time and time again " it shots inside .308 w/155gr.).

I shoot F/Open the Norm .284 ! This year 6 Dasher it will get to 1000 and at lot less cost.
At my age it's being there and seeing the Guy's.

The rifle ranges of two clubs I belong to only go to 100 and 200 yards. Where I hunt varmints and predators, 95% of the shot opportunities are under 300 yards. These days, because of overdevelopment and declining physical capability, I'm doing more practical range shooting than anything else.

So, the wonderful 223 Rem fits all my needs. Very accurate, mild recoil, and relatively economical to shoot.

It's interesting that some are defaulting to the cause being greed and not everything being more expensive, including the cost of shipping container fees. Those are up almost 50% in the past year.
If you don't think corporate greed is a major factor in inflation in ALL commodities now you aren't paying attention to their quarterly reports. All are posting record profit margins over each preceding reports.

checked the price of eggs lately ? Labor prices have increased appx 10% in the last 2 years if you can find someone willing to work. One of the biggest contributors is the price of diesel, at $4.50 - $5.00 a gallon is at a record high. Inflation is killing the middle class

I agree some of it is greed, funny that most of the Shooters World powders back down to $25 a pound except for the one that is just like Varget. It's price remains at around $50 a pound, amazing

The elevated prices for shooting components will start to drop when the price of steel, welding wire, tooling, insurance, electricity, shipping and other major components that are required at my Shop start to drop.

I’m not holding my breath.
Another dreamer Jackie.

Actually, the reason for most of the price increase of eggs is due to the Bird Flu. They have reduced the chicken population trying to eliminate the disease. It was also why the Turkey prices were high.

Right. It's actually been going on for almost a year. Tens of millions of birds have been killed off.
It has been said that the Bird Flu is spread by migratory game birds. Millions of domestic birds have been killed just to limit the spread. How many wild birds have the US FWS killed to limit the spread?
Back in the old days when wild birds had fowl colera they actually tried to do something, not now.
Producers have losses and the FWS doesn't care.

Local sporting good store told me today, they have been given a allotment of less than half of what they have been getting....

Since 1978 ceo wages and compensation has increased 1322%. Average wages for labor has increase in the same time period but has lost ground in purchasing power. I don't think labor is the real problem. Ceo wages and profits bordering on usery play a bigger role by far. It's funny how everyone beats down the people making the companies rich, but gi e the companies a pass for the stunts they pull.

I'm glad I am not crazy thinking some powders jumped up a fair amount in the last couple months.

BH209 is crazy expensive. I thought it was expensive 3 years ago, just down right hurts to shoot it these days.
