Post Office

I guess due to the CV19 and so many people doing online shopping the USPS is slammed.
I have several Priority Packages in Limbo land.
One from 11/25 and some from 12/2 just in a holding pattern.
Tried to contact P/O customer service a bunch of times just got a recorded message and then went on line and filed out the form and then got a call back. I didn't answer it, they left a voice mail (didn't recognize the #) called back got a fax link.
The caller said the packages were not at the depot(no kidding). Where are they?
I understand they are slammed but dang answer the questions better.
I can rant real nasty but it doesn't get you anywhere.
I'll use UPS from now on.

Similar situation: Package shipped Priority on November 20th, and no tracking update after November 24th.
I think the Post Office is a bit overwhelmed right now.

Sent a guy a check for some brass. Two wks later he received it in a usps envelope. The letter & check inside was torn in half. It's a hot mess everywhere. I think maybe better to wait at least until the holidays are over to mail anything.

Had the same problem with UPS. Talked with two people at UPS, who lied to me about the whereabouts of the package. Called the company I bought the goods from (Aloris) and asked them to contact UPS to start a search. Package suddenly appeared on the UPS radar and was delivered the next day.
The company that sold and shipped the goods swings a bigger stick than lowly me.
I can put up with shipping delays due to the Christmas season and Covid but don't lie to me!

I've sold a few things on the classifieds here recently, and have been paying extra to ship UPS vs. USPS.

I cannot count the number of times USPS has screwed me over. Lately though inbound packages have arrived, the tracking info on them has just been screwy and unreliable.

Funny story: Our neighborhood uses those community 'cluster mailboxes' that are locked on both sides; the only two parties that can access them are the resident and the mail delivery person. I have a co-worker & neighbor (who's single & lives alone) that found a loaded & used pipe (for marijuana) locked in his one day. All our misdelivered mail started making a whole lot more sense lol.

I was behind a guy at the Post Office counter last week. He was asking why his package was a week late and being pretty bitchy about it. The rather large black woman behind the counter listened as long as she could stand, then lost her self control and gave the guy both barrels!! If she had a gun nearby, I bet she would have shot him.

Looking at the tracking for a seating die I purchased off gun broker this item went back and forth between Denver and Ft. Worth facilities from November 20th to the 29th 3 times before it finally ended back up at Irving Texas facility. Received on the 30th.

It's the opposite for me. Vapor Trail sent me some bullets Wednesday 12/2 USPS priority mail. It arrived (2000 miles) on 12/4 as expected.

I have two packages coming via FedEx - and they are both stuck in limbo somewhere. One was picked up in TN on 12/2. It was finally scanned leaving TN today (12/9)....

I have three packages coming for a Frankenairgun build. Burris sig see rings have gone from Las Vegas to Portland to Anchorage. Tracking says processed through Anchorage 12/5 enroute to next facility. The other 2 give dates (last week) and processed through the shipper's PO. One says arriving on time the other says arriving late. Absolutely no updates on actual location. It's how it is. The system is obviously way over capacity. I for one am going to have a nice, very stiff adult beverage and contemplate my navel.

It's taking 3-5 days after the original delivery date for packages to arrive at my P. O. Box. At least it's not sitting on the porch that long.

No one works harder than my local post office...........
You have never seen people work so hard at not doing their jobs .
After waiting in line for my package that couldn't be found , I
made sure to tell them how good they make the DMV look

Had two packages at about the same time, one inbound and another outbound from an Ebay sale, both showed via tracking that they never moved from the main processing facility after receipt.

I found the phone numbers online for each facility, eventually spoke to an actual human, never got an update from them but the packages each arrived at destination several days later.

Both were Priority packages.

Oh yea got a package stuck in RICHMOND VA DISTRIBUTION CENTER that I sent out Nov 30th priority mail. I get a message daily saying it will be late but it's on the way. Makes me wonder if it really is there.

In Transit, Arriving Late
Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.

I live in a little town like Mayberry. No home mail delivery, so everyone has a PO box. The postmistress is a personal friend and my neighbor across the ditch. She is very dedicated, and has one helper. The two of them serve the post office needs of our large rural area and town folks. I can't believe how well they do.

The post office is a great social gathering place as well as a mail pick-up. The intersection it is located on also holds the local bank, the popular auto repair shop, True Value Hardware, and the favorite local diner. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, The postal chicks are never to busy to swap pictures or conversation or talk Jesus or whatever. I don't recall ever hearing anyone bitching about a package that is taking too long. I wonder if folks are too spoiled these days. jd

I've got one for ya,
I was waiting for my new scope from LanceXXX of course it took 3 days
longer than it should have, but I tracked it and was out for delivery, so I heard
the USPS jeep coming and was waiting at the door. The worthless driver put a note
in my box with the other mail saying I wasn't home and they would make another
delivery tomorrow. I watched her drive off. WTH
So I ended up having them hold the pkg and picked up the next day.
Too lazy to get out of the vehicle and come up to the door. Piss poor service.

I purchased a barrel off of a member here.
ETA was Tuesday 12/8 via USPS.
Tracking kept showing it in the Springfield MO depot. Wednesday tracking just shows that "it's on it's way, but arriving late".
Not where it actually is.

Their distribution centers are slammed right now due to Covid quarantine policies and their very liberal paid 'if you have ANY symptoms, stay home for safety' policy.
