Photo posting

Lions don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.
Well, I just got a message from Photobucket that they would be disabling 3rd party hosting. So every photo that I've ever posted on this forum will be disabled. If anyone sees a disabled photo in any of my posts they want to see, feel free to contact me and I should be able to find it.

Of course that doesn't apply just to this forum. Over the years I've posted thousands of photos to astronomy forums, various machinist forums, coin forums, many different firearm forums, and probably others I can't remember. Photobucket has for it's lifetime advertised itself as the perfect place to host your photos for forum posting and indeed it was handy. They create the links to put them on forums. But I've noticed the advertisements were getting worse and worse. I guess they are hurting for money.

I've always used a 3rd party hosting service because most forums couldn't support full size photos. It is a pain in the rear to resize them so hosting was easier. But that may have changed.

Looks like this forum has upgrades so I can attach full size photos so I'll start using that. Attached is a random photo.

I just got the same thing. I'm going to try and upload a picture from my computer as a test. It gave an option of thumbnail or full picture.

It worked, so far the rest of my photos are still visible on other posts.

I didn't see the "full image" option. thanks.
And thanks to forum administrators for making this upgrade.

Saw the same thing so guessing most all of mine will "crash". Using Flickr now. Got the impression you could post pictures directly from your computer. Gonna try that right now as a test.

NO. Did not work. Still need a URL from some kind of third party photo source. Even using "Upload a File" did not work as it came back saying the JPG image was too large.

Don't click on any of the links at the top. Just open a small window with your photos in it and drag the one you want and drop it in the box that will say "drop photos here". --Jerry20170509_181819.jpg
