Peterson Brass

I just got into building a 6.5 Creedmoor and decided to try out the Peterson brass. A friend has a 6.5 C in a Ruger RPR and has shot Hornaday factory ammo to get some rounds down the tube and end up with brass for reloading. The Hornaday ammo shoots very good in my opinion for factory ammo, easily holding a 1/2 minute which I consider very good factory stuff. This gave me the impression that the brass must be pretty decent as well. He doesn't neck turn or anneal so I took a box of his empties to work the brass so he would have a head to head comparison on his reloads. The brass was decent but the base of the neck starting about at the halfway point was thicker but basically cleaned up with a skim cut. I decided to turn a Peterson case to get a feel for it as well. After micing the neck at 90 degree increments, all miced the same. After about .100 skim cut I stopped and said this is a waste of time. This stuff is REALLY concentric. I have no idea how it will stand up yet but to say I was impressed by brass that was about $40 for 50 shipped in a useable box would be an understatement. This is very nice stuff and worth looking at. Good job Peterson, Now make me some 300 WSM brass PLEASE.

I agree. Just got 200 .308 and 1 box of .338 Lapua. The brass is very precise and it looks like their quality control is top notch. Cant wait to shoot it.

I gave Peterson a try too. Very uniform and weight sorted, the plastic ammo Box with a foam insert to protect the mouth of the brass is a nice touch too. I liked it enough I ordered more in a different caliber and was equally pleased when it arrived. I think when more people try it it will become a go to product.

I couldn't agree more with the comments stated above. I was equally impressed with the consistency and quality of their 308 Win. Palma brass.

I also agree, I just bought 400pc of .308 SRP Brass and it was top notch in my opinion. I weighed it and didn't see a huge spread between weight. Cant wait to shoot this stuff!

I bought 400 pieces when the lapua srp brass is gone thread started.I will be trying out sometime next year on another f/tr rifle that is being built for my son and will serve as a backup for me.It is really nice looking brass.

The Peterson 6.5 CM brass is a lot heavier / thicker than the Lapua brass, and case capacity is less. A safe load in the Peterson case is around 100 fps slower than what I can get out of Lapua or Nosler brass.

Does Anyone know how Peterson compares to Lapua in .338 Lapua Magnum caliber ? - Also .375 Chey-tac to Bertram ? - In Case Capacity ?

I wonder if that means Peterson primer pockets last longer.. hmmm
