Peterson brass

Afternoon everyone I recently got some Peterson brass given to me , 6 x 47 Lapua brass, measuring the overall length I discovered that somebody had shortened the neck too much. Is this stuff junk?
Thx for the help

I just did some measuring the ones that I have previously made measure 1.840 measuring the Peterson‘s brass they were 1.835 and there was a couple that were actually 1.820 so how short can you go before they’re considered trash? I just looked in a Reloading book standard size would be 1.850. Thanks for the help. Have a great night.

Case length will grow when they are full length sized. What condition are you measuring ? If excessively short you will need to keep the throat clear to help prevent donuts.

When I receive them, they appeared to all be resized and primed. They were like nine pieces that had the primers knocked out of them. They all measure about the same thing on the shoulder to the case head.

I just neck turned 100 Peterson cases for a .269 chamber. I found the same thing to be true. I had to trim the all to 1.838 or so if I remember correctly to make them uniform for neck turning. My neck turner uses the case mouth as the stop. I have found that after about 4-5 firings the cases need retrimmed to length. I just watch for the carbon ring build up with a bore scope and address it when needed. Not sure if the “shortness” is a bad thing or not but I make them all consistent and haven’t had a problem. Good luck.
