Peterson brass vs. Lapua

In your opinion, is Peterson brass equal to or better than Lapua brass? I’m interested specifically in six BR Norma chambering. Thank you!

I've got Peterson LRP brass and Lapua SRP brass for my 6mm Creed. So far, accuracy, velocity, chrono metrics, etc. have been very comparable between the two. I can't speak to longevity yet, as I only have a few firings on each lot.

I've been impressed with the Peterson brass so far.

In 6 BR brass necked up to .30 BR, I find Peterson brass to exhibit the same very high quality that Lapua does... albeit the Peterson is slightly thicker and so has just a bit less case capacity. So it requires a very slight powder charge tweak to hit the same pressure/velocity.

I find accuracy to be equal, and happily use both in my match rotation.

I've only used the Peterson brass for 6BRX, 30BR, and 260AI. From what I have seen Peterson is hanging in there and doing well. However, I do not have near as many firings on the Peterson as the Lapua with either caliber except the 260AI. So far it has done well for me.

IMO, Peterson brass is softer. I base that on how much easier it cuts when I trim.
I'll buy Lapua 1st, Peterson 2nd, and am very happy with both.
i second this, and have seen the same over and over again with other people. it is tough stuff, but the brass does seem to move more than lapua/alpha/adg. I still love peterson, I got 17 firings out of their cheytac stuff before signs of case/head sep, primer pockets still tight.

I think Peterson is dang close to as good as Lapua, and Alpha a NOT close 3rd. Early lots of Peterson were a little thick but newer lots are running .266-.268 loaded. You can check the specs on any lot number they have made.

The only difference I’ve seen between Peterson and Lapua is the Peterson is a HINT softer and takes a little less powder.

I don't know how the 6 BR Norma cases might translate from .308's. But what I found interesting when measuring the Web Thickness of my virgin Peterson brass was that the thickness was quite a bit thicker than my Lapua brass. Apparently, that's what helps Peterson primer pockets stay tight. And, that thickness wasn't as consistent as what I found in my Lapua brass. Also, the Peterson's case volume was .6 grs H2O less than Lapua.

Don't know if you've seen this before, so here it is again:

While these are interesting, it doesn't tell the whole story. The metallurgy of one vs the other makes a huge difference.

Lapua are more concentric, primer pockets can get loose, lower veloicity, Peterson less concentric larger weight differences in cases, Faster velocity, Tight primer pockets, Out of thousands, both,in 6 Creedmore & 6 BRA Have Never had a primer pocket get loose, did have 1 case with the start of a split neck.
