Pet loads for Savage Model 110 Varmint in .223

I tend to color outside of the box.
69gr SMK & TMK or 70gr Nosler RDF over a charge of Alliant PP2000MR .
This for my wife's Savage 110FP in 223 Rem 1:9.
I'm a big fan of 2000mr for 223! Drops well, consistent, packs in tight. I use it with the 75 eld. I found ar comp did better with the rdf though.

52-55 with 23.5-25g h335. Every bolt gun I've started with this has produced under an inch with some combo in there. For a savage factory barrel, that's good. Fine tune with seating depth. Same thing you do for any rifle.

Or, if you are just wondering if it's a shooter, grab some factory ammo like the 53 Vmax and head to the range

I have a model 12 with a 26" 1:9 barrel. It really likes the old 75gr Amax over a stout charge of N540. Haven't tried any ELD in it yet. It also does okay with 50 and 53gr vmax with n133, but I'm still looking for a more accurate load for those bullets.

So far, it likes 55 grain SMKs and 69 grain Nosler Custom Competition. Shot one hole 5 shot groups with both at 100 yards. I did not shoot as well with 55 grain A-Max and Nosler 70 grain RDFs, but these did print several 3/8 to 1/2 inch 5 shot groups. I am impressed with this factory Savage! I had heard Savages shot well out of the box, but this was above expectations.

I will try and get some N133 at some point. Right now, I am playing with Ramshot TAC which has been a great powder for me with my .223 rifles. I will experiment with Varget, Precision, H335 and BL-C(2) powders that I currently have on the shelf.

So far in the heavier bullets, it is shooting the 77 SMK great with 24.5 grains of BL-C(2). It is also shooting 69 grain Nosler Custom Competition bullets well with 23.5 grains of Ramshot TAC.
70gr nosler rdf pushed by 24gr of varget out of my savage varmint 223.
I will give that a try, as I have the bullets and powder. Thanks!

I like a little speed in mine, have the savage 110 varmint and 12 in 223.
CFE 27.3, 50g vmax .55 group
Tac 26.3 40g vmax 3500ish fps
Tac 27.2 40g Blitzkings 3570ish fps
those seem to work for me, work up your own but might help
BLC2 also gave me very good results
