Perfect Predator rifle?

I have to say for me there is no one perfect coyote/predator hunting rifle. Terrain pretty much dictates what is my favorite of the day.

Thick cover I'm really partial to combo guns or drillings. Covers everything from your shoelaces to 200 yards if needed.

Mid-range where multiple responses are posible I really like my little Sako 222 Rem but a lot like the AR it works but not my favorite by a longshot.

I used a Remington 788 in 22-250 for varmints so I guess I would use that for anything it could knock down at distance. Speer 52gr HP were a favorite at 3900fps but a change in barrel twist would get you up in heavier bullet weight to reach far out and touch em’.

What twist do you have? Mine is 1:7.75. Im shooting the 108 eldm but was thinking about trying the 87 vmax out since the 108 do a lot of damage but does not kill coyotes right away. Rips them up and got to make another shot to put down. Awful sight.
Jb,
You will be much happier with the 87 V-max. Rapid expansion and many do not exit. If you place the shot, one and done. Like you, I hate wounding animals.

Remington 700 sporter in 243, Tikka in 243 loaded with IMR 4064, Fed 210, 80g Sierra blitz BT at 3400 Hammers real hard.

I have had several Remington 700's in 22/250 when new, re chambered to 22/250 AI, and 55's at 4000 and 60g Berger at 3700 anchor coyotes hard and fast. I fire formed my brass while killing.

I use all my perfect predator rifles
224 Valkyrie (AR Platform), 222 remington, 22 hornet, 22 Creedmoor and my favorite 220 Swift with a Hart barrel on a model 70 featherweight also carry Rem 870 and a Browniing 10 ga with #4 buck
BTW how do you like the Minaska caller

I love the Minaska caller,.reliable and simple remote (100 sounds) that you don't have to scroll for sound. I have a Big Country that I just got back, I gave it to my nephew a couple years ago and traded him a FP Crossfire (that I won) for it back. Two M-1 Bandits, the small one pictured, they are so small I pack them on archery coyote calling trips and long hike hunts. I also have a Minaska amp it's like the M-1 Bandits without a remote or sounds but I can run a CD player through it for some of JS really juicy sounds when I feel nostalgic.

I just started using a Wildlife Technologies call this past season love the remote on it (much like a minàska) also, same size as my FP CS-24 but much more reliable and again a simple remote (108 sounds).

My petite lite little model 97-D from EAB Co. chambered in 6mm BRM is about perfect for anything from gophers to deer and way easy to carry on long walks.

For those of us that do a lot of walking to get to remote areas what would you choose as your perfect predator rifle and cartridge combination? Coyotes, bob cat, lynx, mountain lion, and wolf could all be on the list of predators to hunt?

Well, I've shot bobcats and coyotes with .243's
My neighbors here in central ID shoot elk with .243 Rem, (also 6.5PRC, 7mm Rem Mag and 7mm-08).
So, 243 Win.
I like the Mauser M18 in .243 Win. (or Rem 700)
Mine shoots well, is light, magazine won't drop out on a climb.
Not expensive.
pic of a 243 Rem 700 w a light barrel.
