Perfect Predator rifle?

Rifle - Tikka T3 Lite or Browning X Bolt Stalker - I have both and they are outstanding rifles - accurate, and excellent handling in the field.

Caliber - if you leave out wolves and mountain lions - 223, with those critter added - 243.

You don't need a wildcat - these two old standbys will do the job quite well.

K22 & I are on the same wave length....since you added the elusive & tempermental predators ....243 Win with 85gr or 100 gr Sierra. For coyotes and smaller....223 Rem with 55gr Sierra.

well since mountain lion is on the list i think i would perfer 308 with a 14twist . with the wide options of tips out there in 30 cal you can shoot light stuff on the smaller critters and load heavy for that mountain lion you mentioned . T.R.

IT'S HARD FOR ME TO PICK JUST ONE, I LIKE THEM ALL BUT I WOULD GO WITH 243ACK. 8/TWIST.

I just put this together for myself. My version of the ultimate long range coyote rig. 6.5x47 Lapua shooting the 123 A-max at 2875. ;D

Nice set-up, but I think it's pushing the weigh envelope a bit for a packin' carryin' it very far gun.

As I've aged, I don't want to go over eight pounds by much. My Bat 6x47 goes 8-2, and a 6.5x47 the same, but is going on a diet as soon as my Edge gets here....

Looks can be deceiving, as the stock has the Edge tech. and comes in at 2.25 Lbs. Rifle and scope come in at 10.25 lbs. Not to bad considering there is a 2 lb. scope on board.

some great rigs here esp ALF & Boltfluters ! .. my new build..Rem 788 vortex 6.5-20 wide duplex Brux #4 1-8 6.5x47L does well with 123 Amax & 38.0 varget..Danny

Old thread I know but for me it would be my .257 Roberts with something like a 100gr Gameking or maybe Partition if feeling fancy. (Just so I don't switch between bullets for varmints and light deer work).

Rifle is an FN Commercial 98 action with 22" barrel. Scope is a 3-12x50 Z4i

Scrummy

I would have to think the 6.5 bullets would destroy the smaller game but help with the lions. I have personally tried 6.5 and 6mm on coyotes. Lots of damage.

Ruger American Predator in 6 Creed. Very light and accurate for a very good price. I got one for my son a few years back in 6.5 Creed. Custom rifle accurate and Walmart cheap.

Tikka T3X in 6.5 Creed or 308. You can never have too much gun. 22in barrel, Laminate stock and a fixed 6x scope ( if anyone still makes them) Otherwise a 1-6x anything good.

Too me that’s two different rifles. The larger of the predators would be 243+ but I’d most likely be carrying my 25 creed, or 260 rem. The smaller predators would be my 20 tac or 223

I would have chosen my Stevens 200 rebarreled to 250 Savage with the 90gr Sierra BlitzKings.

But you threw something in the mix that could effectively hunt ME.

So at the very least, my Savage 111 chambered in 257 Roberts AI using 120gr Partitions.
