PAUSE IN RELOADING AND SHOOTING

Pat A.

Gold $$ Contributor
I just got back from another relaxing trip of camping and gold digging in Yuma Az. Great trip, got 19 Grams of gold this trip, However while moving some large rocks I came literally face to face with a rather large rattlesnake. Jumped back and well I didn't land so gracefully. Broke my wrist, better than a snakebite. I am glad it was still a little cold out so the snake wasn't very active or else he would of got me. I am usually pretty mindful of my surroundings while I am digging, I guess I just let my guard down. So now I will be a left handed Reloader & Shooter for a month of so.

3 weeks ago i walked up on this one sleeping. It woke up when i started walking backwards. I was 2 feet away from it when its tail caught my eye. It was 60 degrees out when this happened. He did not survive the head shot i gave him.

Balboa is a name I haven't heard or thought about since I was a young Seabee stationed at NAB Coronado. Hope it heals up good for you Chief.

Heal fast. Not asking to give a way your secrets but are you metal detecting or panning/washing? Will be retiring end of the year and will be wintering in AZ and have been intrigued by picking up the hobby. Really looking at it from a hobby point and getting outdoors staying active and not full fledge gold mining.

19 grams of gold = fun!

Rattlesnake = no fun!

Broken wrist = sucks.

I’m in Arizona and spend a good portion of the non hunting season outdoors rocking hounding. No gold. Just jasper, agates and everything else we can find out there. We were out elk hunting and found a beautiful carnelian agate a couple years ago, didn’t know what it was at the time. That rock started a serious hobby for me and the wife. Get her out looking for rocks or arrowheads and she’ll spend the whole day out there. It’s a great way to stay in shape during the off-season, sometimes we will have 30 pounds of rocks in our packs in some pretty serious canyon county. The rock in the pic is what started it, added the G19 for scale.

Sounds like a great adventure, keep it up.
