PacNor Barrels

I see PacNor barrels are not talked about much in the threads about barrel choices.
It will be time for me to order again soon on my 204 build and just wanted to know if I was missing something.
I have a couple of their barrels on my other hunting rigs just wanted to know if there was a better step up in quality.
The barrels I have shoot as good as I can so I am not bashing just thinking out loud.

I had a 6.5x284 and presently have a 204 Ruger in PacNor barrels. Both guns exhibited excellent accuracy and the barrels don't copper up. The folks at PacNor were also very friendly and it made doing business a pleasure.

I have one of the .20 cal barrels and it shoots quite accurately. Doesn't really copper much even after 40 rounds.Just trace copper and keeps shooting well with more than 40 rounds in a short shooting session.

I have a Pac-Nor barrel on my .17 Fireball. It has somewhere north of 3000 rounds down it and still shoots very small groups. I don't load hot.
It is my #1 Varmint Gitter and IF the barrel ever goes south the rifle will receive another Pac-Nor. dedogs:)

they place in 1000yd shooting sometimes with very small groups, thinking about one myself, I heard Gary Schnieder builds a quality barrel I think thats his name not sure.

I've got two Pac-Nor's and both shoot perfect.
I ordered the high grade ss and the results are fantastic.
Now one of is 9,214 shots and still very much accurate, I use it for training.
The other is 2,236 and it shows very tight groups at 300 meter, prone with jacket and sling shooting. I use this one for competition.
Both are chambered for 6.5x55, 1 in 8".

I have had I think 6 Pac Nor barrels over the years and all but one has shot great. the one that did not shoot great shot decent but I called and talked to them about the accuracy I expected and was not getting and the other barrel I was getting it so they said send it back and they replaced the blank..I currently am shooting a #3 sporter SSM 1-8 twist in 6XC and a good tuned load if I do my part has shot many 3 shot groups at 200 yards that measure .330 ish...5 shot er's under .500 at 200 yards and a few groups at 100 yards around .110 ish...I do not think you can buy a better Button rifled barrel..maybe some as good but none better. some cut barrels maybe better and that is a maybe IMO...

I am very happy with mine. It not only shoots great but is very easy to clean. I have often wondered if mine is just better than most. As I don't hear of that many match shooters using them. Someone who could shoot better than me could compete with it. I will for sure be buying more in the future!

I bought a PacNor pre-fit 6.5-284 to replace a shot out Savage factory barrel of same caliber many years ago. It shot terrible, worse than the old factory barrel. After 230 rounds, sent it back to Pac Nor, they returned the barrel saying nothing wrong with it. They did polish the chamber, but that did not help. Never again.

Sorry to hear that. I have been dealing with them for close to twenty years and never had a problem..actually the one barrel I had was a 6BR and it shot ok but just not as good as my other barrel same chamber, same barrel and they replaced the blank for me..So I kind of find it hard to believe you had a problem. Plus all my barrel's other than that one have shot not just good but GREAT. I would recommend them over any other Buttoned barrel. If I am not buying a cut riffled barrel you can be sure it's a Pac Nor. I have had a few Krieger barrels and a few bartlein barrels and I now have a BRUX I am happy with..but the Pac's have shot as well as anything I have owned.

In the near future, I am going to test a SM Pac-Nor barrel in a Dasher chambering. The barrel will be a HV contour, 4-groove, 7.5 twist SS. If Paul is interested, I will report my results on this forum. I, like the OP, had a couple Pac-Nor barrels back in the late 80's in hunting rifles (they both gave outstandin performance). I haven't shot anything but cut-rifled barrels in 600 yard competition, but look forward to trying the button-rifled Pac-Nor. James Mock
