I was thinking tacking some angle iron for lateral deflection. Wouldn't have to be AR at that distance, would it?

Probably not, but we standardized on a design from 1K to 1 mile. There are 10 total stands for those ranges on the order, plus a whole bunch of other fun stuff to be scattered out starting at 25 yards for pistols.
