Our Constitutional Rights

No matter what the Constitution says, you cannot have freedom with an immoral people. Those documents assumed a level of morality that no longer exists.

When the word "freedom" is used to express one's ability to debouch themselves to whatever extent they choose, the framework of a successful culture is already destroyed.

Each civilization conquered territory and held it by force, the white man was just particularly savage to the Native American Indians.
There’s also more evidence of ancient aliens and evolution then one heavenly figure and the Big Bang theory.
If you take the Liberal’s push towards “zero carbon footprint”, global warming from fossil fuel use and “restitution for oppressed people” to it’s logical end, we should all leave the US, give it back to the Indians and they can live here as they did in the 1600s.

Isn't this why we put Religion into the 1st Amendment? This country was founded on religious freedom. G*D is G*D, it just means different things to different people. It's not as if G*D belongs to any one religion, even though it seems many of the founding fathers were Christians. The law was written to be agnostic. AFAIK, this country was founded on Agnostic theism, period. OTOH, what do I know?

And let me point something out here. The 10 Commandments are pretty old. Most everyone knows about this. When the settlers came to this country, they violated the 8th Commandment, "You shall not steal". But that didn't stop them from stealing America away from the Native Americans. I'm not a Native American, but theft is theft no matter how you look at it. I always believed in the way George Carlin explained it...we just kept moving the Native Americans around until they had a few small reservations. The Non-Natives took all the good $#!T while they could...they didn't ask the Native Americans, they were too busy painting them as horrible people. We can learn things from history, but we won't... :(
G*D? Do you suffer from Astraphobia?

I have a strong feeling that “In God we Trust” meant the Christian Deity. That is the only instance that our language capitalizes “God”.

I would imagine inordinate blowback if someone were to clarify that the other view was meant, by proposing that we rewrite this on currency and sheriff’s cars in Texas to say “In a god we trust”.

That phrase, “In a god we trust” would annoy me and other Christians, as it would probably everyone here, including the atheists, who would suggest we not claim to trust any god, governmentally.

Who would honestly be ok with seeing “that” phrase repeated places? No one would accept that rewrite, and would sooner say nothing.

I think we have to look at this from the standpoint that the words did mean something, and just stand by, or not, what they mean. If you wouldn’t support a rewrite, then you know what it means.

The government as big as it is will always leak around the edges from its core purposes a bit, and leaking is better than bursting.

So much wrong where do you start? The never trumpers are terrified of him. He actually talks about term limits and auditing the agencies and did some of the things he promised. Our alphabet agencies with their Woke and DEI are proving the government can't run anything. They are on the verge of ruining the military. The elite politicians are pushing for government controlled health insurance and education. Read "Rules for Radicles" and some of the covid debacle becomes understandable. "Gays for Gaza" and "Palestine Pride" proves half the population is ignorant. Jan 6 perps are in jail for 5-10 years and a presidential candidate helped raise money to protect the people who burned Portland down. Never hear about how many kids are killed in the urban communities every weekend. Gen. Eisenhour at the gas chambers said "someday some SOB will say this never happened". I'll stop now!

Pretty much says it all. Thanks for the thoughtful post. Only thing I could add is the coming financial crisis that is bound to happen if the fed continues with its ridiculous deficit spending.

Interesting, that part in bold seems familiar of late. Only it's not here and Native Americans this time. People seem destined to continue down the same path regardless.

And what level of morality are you referring to - the one that it was okay to treat a human being based on the color of their skin as nothing more than chattel, to be bought and sold, whipped, raped and murdered at the whim of their masters??

The proposition that our country is more immoral today than it was 250 years ago is nonsense and ignores history - I call it "biblically blind"...

Goodness knows, we shouldn't speak of God, in this place... Godless as it has become.

Of course, God is not in the Constitution. Only "we the people". It is a 100 percent secular document.

Morality is an individual choice, and relative. America turned its back on aristocracy by birth as well as heritable caste-like peonage, and a society structured by landed title where wealth determined rights and privileges. This had been the anointed path of learned peoples since BC flipped, that we tore to shreds.

The early colonists were already outside the cultural establishment of Western Europe, with relatively less to lose in leaving. (Australia had it worse.) They were considered at once both uppity and trending to the immoral, until they were considered dumb-lucky and then wretchedly ungrateful, wallowing in natural bounty.

Yes, we took it from the Indians (we did not come in peace as it turns out, and the first pandemic here, - a true one, - sure wasn’t from Wuhan), for the crown, but then booted the crown and just decided we will shape our own destiny, thank you, with these here guns. This was all very hedonistic on the large group level.

We are all the beneficiaries of a certain combination of organizational hands-off immorality (there is no minimum IQ to own a gun, to be soldier, yes, to carry a gun in public no) mixed with spindle-top-oil-well-rich-cat-ate-the-canary-punch-drunk grin, that is ONLY not wrong so long as we all agree it’s not.

If some visible individuals make bad personal choices with the liberties given them, somewhere another is excelling by reason of having been given the same freedom to choose. It is true that if enough people make very bad choices, we as a country will slide down the bench, by measure of productivity and esteem.

I agree, but I think the SCOTUS is on our side this time. They ruled on this 2 years ago with Bruen, yet the left doesn't want to let us have the win. They need to be slapped. We keep eroding away and getting close to getting a case accepted so that the SCOTUS can rule on it. Heller spelled it out about 13 years ago, and it took 11 years for Bruen to try and clarify it. Thomas is our key to this, so we need him in the Justice before he retires. Can you imagine if Sotomeyor was to get one of these cases? Not an easy game to play.

This is a big one today, this could be our key to suppressors.

DISCLAIMER: If Mark Smith bothers you, please don't watch this.

Interesting, that part in bold seems familiar of late. Only it's not here and Native Americans this time. People seem destined to continue down the same path regardless.

It was really unfair that the Native Americans didn't have firearms, but it seems the same as it is today, there was black market trading with the Native Americans with firearms. The Native Americans were not big on blacksmithing, which was required in those days to fabricate firearms, AFAIK. There was a Native American in Oklahoma area, named Ned Christie. He was one of the very few Native Americans that was a gunsmith and/or blacksmith. I have heard the Native Americans felt fire was not to be played with.

The Native Americans were not stupid people though, they did create bow and arrow and were XLNT hunters. Of course all tribes were different. I own property in Lake County, CA. The Pomo tribe was in the area. The Pomos spent most of their time weaving baskets out of tules and were not warriors. There are several massacres that occurred, killing the Pomos by settlers.

Not sure of the bases, but I understand that gun owners and church goers are the 2 groups who vote the least. We must get the vote out and remember we are not voting for Trump, the man, we are voting for the 2nd amendment, freedom of speech and a whole list of things. He will pick a cabinet of business men and work the heck out of them. AND FIRE THEM! He understands debt and interest rates. NYC is full of obnoxious business men just like him. And that's who we need to run this great country. And unlike what the elite educators say, THIS IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

Maybe so, but as far as I know nobody walked into anyone's homes there and did inspections in the years since.

Why? because while politicians lie until the cows come home to get votes most have some understanding of the law and certainly those two are well aware that without a court signed search warrant there is no entering someone's home unless the occupant allows it. Simple as that.
