Other forums

USRIFLETEAMS.COM

Two forums, both competition-centric.

One for Long Range, other for National Match course of fire.

For the unknowing, the former is all prone, 800-1,000 yards.

The latter is ‘position’ shooting, more often than not with a Service Rifle: offhand (200 yds), sitting rapid-fire (also 200 yards), prone rapid-fire (300 yards) then prone slow-fire (600 yards).

Both have adherents to the newer Mid-range discipline. That’s all prone too, officially 300, 500 and 600 yards but most often just shot at 600.

Good people, as the folks here, but different disciplines compared to BR, PRS, 3-gun, etc. You haven’t tried ‘em, maybe you should! We don’t bite....

I read quite a few of them.

Generally speaking, for technical discussion, this forum blows them all out of the water. You have legitimate competitors here (state/national/worlds record holders etc.) from multiple accuracy-oriented disciplines; that isn't the case on most other sites (unless it's something small/specific like SteelChickens for example).

On other sites it feels like maybe ~1:20 to 1:100 posters actually know what they're talking about, the rest are either newbies, folks with no real experience who repeat what they've heard/read, or are blind to a brand/ideology/false prophet.

For accuracy oriented discussion, this is the place. For general BSing, or other shooting disciplines there are a few other good sources.

My 2c.

Edit:
Brian Enos is good for pistols/auto loaders.
AR15.com is good for general BSing and arguing non-gun stuff.
LRH used to be good for 30 cal mag discussion (not sure anymore).
SnipersHide is good for raising your blood pressure.

Sniper Hide use to be pretty good, but now it's get a lot of "mall ninjas"
people buying the most expensive bolt gun and thinking they are the shits.
Also get people arguing a point and not ever shooting the caliber.
As others have said, this (A.S.) has real world top shooters that have more knowledge
and experience. I'll take that any day over a machine or computer telling
whats suppose to work...
I'll bet someone will have issue over what I said.

I like this place.
I participate in a few others, monitor some more, usually specific to something I own and shoot.
Some I can offer advice, others I'm looking for advice.
If you Google "Forum" and whatever you are looking for a forum will pop up.
Even "RussianGirlsOnTractorsdotcom" but due to the time difference it gets hopping really late at night.

I usually watch from a "new posts" perspective but have to weed out the popular political discussions which isn't always a good indicator of the quality of content.
I'll have to check out 24hr campfire, colorful people can be interesting.

Lately I've been knee deep in the 22 Nolser, the Baby 22CM, and the 224V's big brother.
Can't even get a good conversation going on the Nosler forum. So I watch for similarities in loads, bullets, external ballistics of other .223 rounds.
It's sort of like being 6 steps into a 12 step program.
Hi, my name is Rocket, and I shoot the 22 Nosler :)
Doesn't take long to bring out the experts.

I’m on here long range hunting and the outdoor trader.

I like all three forums. I really like the outdoor trader because it’s about all types of firearms and guys have thick skin so they joke around a lot. The conversations over there are hilarious. A ton of firearm knowledge as well. They talk about long range too, but don’t expect much as far as technical discussion. Usually its “my 700P in .308 gets the job done out to 750, so why would I need anything else?!”

Have been here a long time, but have also spent a lot of time over on the Hide looking for info on PRS stuff; their discussion on the V22 is simply the largest, most informative, and diverse one that I've yet seen concerning the Vudoo Gun Works rifles. I also spend quite a bit of time on Rimfire Central, since I got into shooting & modifying CZ457 22RF rifles. It's almost comical to see how much resistance some of the guys on RFC have displayed when it comes to complementing Mike Bush & the rest of the VGW crew on their success with the V22, and in truth, I'd like to see more discussion here when it comes to .22RF stuff. But overall, this sight continues to be one of my all-time favorites - thanks to all the members here who make it what it is!

I "lurked" on this site for a long time before Contributing and while some members are gone now the overall support you get form the guys on the site has not changed. I dont think you will find the Technical Expertise on other sites that exists on here and it is given to you for FREE. JMHO Best Site On The WEB.
