Olympic Pistol Shooting

His shooting is impressive for sure but, the lack of special glasses and choice of ear pro doesn't make it that much more impressive IMO.

Most people who shot bullseye used Knoblochs or other adjustable glasses, with a shield on the non shooting eye. The adjustments allowed you to center the view on the front sight, to insert different diopter lenses for different eyes or front sight distances, and the shield allowed shooting without closing one eye.
This guy has a set of glasses that work for him, and he shoots with both eyes open.

I have seen other comments on line regarding his "casual" or "relaxed" look. Well, putting your hand in your pocket is standard. It has to go somewhere, and the pocket allows planting the arm, with no conscious effort.
If you set your feet, twist your torso, and lean upper body back, you can lock your body into a posture that also does not require conscious effort. Now all you have to do is mentally and optically focus on the front sight and the proper sight picture.

Holding the sight picture reasonably still on the target helps a lot too.

Take a look at the gun. That's no "Saturday night special". This guy is a serious competitor and I applaud him. I do hope he gets his dog back.

The simplicity is why I love Pistol events like air pistol, rapid fire/standard pistol, and free pistol. There is no special equipment allowed, no shooting jackets, no ski boots, no gloves. You just stand there and shoot one handed iron sights. Some people use fancy glasses but not all, and they certainly are not necessary. I think it's more athletically "pure" than the heavy equipment rifle events. Archery is also pure, no "cheater" equipment.

Partly this is just how the sports have evolved over the past century. Pistol jackets were a thing for a while, but were banned in the early 1980s I believe.

I've heard a few rifle shooters comment they don't like pistol shooting "because it wobbles around too much"! I came to rifle from pistol as the pistols got banned in 1997. Sometimes shooting with a bipod and rear bag does feel a bit like cheating!
