Olympic Shooting News

Here is the Daily Bulletin Story, again:

Also, Dennis Santiago has written a very informative article about Team USA Olympic Smallbore Shooter Sagen Maddalena of the USAMU:

A great Kentucky shooter!! I would like to say another "great" KY shooter like me but that would end all credibility for the post o_O
Something great must be happening at UK. Coaching and 7 hours practice per day perhaps.
WSJ (of all places) article about Mary Tucker (UK / air rifle).

Not sure if the pay wall will let you all in.
If only I could practice 7 hours a day within walking distance of work & home.

And Vince Hancock won his third career Gold Medal in Men's Skeet, earning him consideration for Skeet GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). Here are the talented twosome, 1st Lt. Amber English and Vince Hancock:

Story:

As an aside, Will Shaner (US) set a new Olympic Record to win Gold in the Men's Air Rifle Competition; the first ever US Gold Medal in the event.

Juppe;
Sorry to hear of the Finnish finish. Unfortunately we can’t all win. All the athletes practice countless hours and then by some stroke of luck, someone wins or fails to win. It still doesn’t diminish all the effort that goes into competing.

As far as US network TV is concerned it's just the Simone Biles show. Last time around I had access to all the auxiliary channels, and so was able to watch some shooting and equestrian events but if you don't have that, it's just attractive young people doing things that involve minimal clothing.

Don't forget about the US push to have Bridge (yes, the card game) be an Olympic Event.

Given the modern age we find ourselves living in, I'm waiting for someone to propose cross dressing as an Olympic sport. I'm really shocked that there have been no protests over the lack of transgender bathrooms or the use of the US National Anthem in gold medal ceremonies. Surely some raunchy gangster rap tune (with vocals) could be used in lieu of the Star Spangled Banner.

Exactly. I have not watched a NFL game since the first trator took a knee and suffered no consequences for that action. NBA,, never watched it. Olympics, don't care. They have simply joined the ranks of the political platform jerks.

When I watch sports, thats all I want to see, pure athletic effort. No politics, no causes, no political commercials. And I won't watch a sport that doesn't start until after the national Anthem being played because participants are disrespecting our nation in the process. If I want to see politics I can watch any news program.

It's bad enough I have to see cat food or famine hygiene commercials during dinner time.

Praise the Lord for the on / off button.
Exactly how i feel. If you shoot near me in western PA, id buy you a frosty or two !!!
Political affiliation or personal beliefs have absolutely zero place in a sport.
When it comes to the Olympics the athlete should behave and play ethical and fully support the country in which they represent.
Nothing more , nothing less.

Apparently, Taiwan is not allowed to use their national anthem, as it would offend the Chinese, who believe Taiwan is a part of China. Taiwan accepts medals to a generic Olympic victory anthem.
