Olympic Pistol Shooting

Well, putting your hand in your pocket is standard. It has to go somewhere, and the pocket allows planting the arm, with no conscious effort.

Either that, or using a thumb loop attached to your belt. Having the off hand swinging around throws off your balance. Old style was the hand on your hip. Whatever keeps it from affecting your stance.

Oh no, a world class competitor good enough to take second is not useing the gear you think he must use! The internet brings out the best in people! LOL

No Special Equipment? I see he's got the "counterbalance weight" all pistol shooters have under his shirt, between his chest and his belt lol.

Seriously though, I bet his "regular glasses" are not his everyday glasses and are ground for perfect focus on his sights.

Not necessarily. I'm 63, and went to bifocals about 10 years ago. For offhand bullseye shooting, back in the 80's I could simply use my prescription distance lenses and see the sights perfectly.

Took a substantial break from shooting, and when I came back to shooting in 2015, I went to a pair of shooting frames with my distance prescription plus another -2 sphere correction to get the front sight in focus. I can't use my regular glasses as the front sight is in between the near and far focal ranges.

Now, I'm at a specialized lens (basically what they call a computer lens) plus another sphere or two.

For two-handed shooting the near correction in my bifocals work fine (at the moment, anyway.)

Youngish eyes (or even older eyes, if you're lucky) are pretty resilient and adaptable to different distances. Older eyes and bad genes, not so much.

I am working on my counterweight though. Mostly curls at the local brewpub, with occasional wind sprints at last call.
