Old 6mm Benchrest Cartridge

I may have a chance to acquire an old, low mileage benchrest rifle. Any opinions on how the old 6x47 chambering (.222 Rem mag cartridge necked up to 6mm, mostly shot with 80gr flat based match bullets, if memory serves) would fare in 100yd/200yd benchrest matches against the current crop of short fat 6mm cartridges that have emerged in the 40 years or so since the 6x47 was around?

i shot the "old"6x47 in a sleeved 600, hart bbl, sporter and lv class from 71-78, built by Bob/Wally Hart using 69gr home made Dietch bt, using Sierra jackets, it was in a wood stock!!

r/p brass, 7 1/2 primers 4198, and 748, -- groups under .200 common, 100 and 200 agr, it was the best 6mm around until the ppc, it still will shoot in the .100's with todays scopes, action truing, bedding powders, brass, bullets, powders i think you may be very surprised how good it is

Mine makes nice round bug holes with full cases of H-322 and Clark's 65gr match bullets. I shot my best ever 200 yard target with this rifle.

That "old" 6X47 will shoot with the best of them on a good day. Worst thing about it is getting good brass.

Thanks to all for the replies - this one is a trip down memory lane, more than anything else.

bheadboy, far as I know, for the relatively short time this one actually competed ( mid '71 through '74, lv), it was fed a steady diet of Clarance Dietch's bullets.
