6mm/.22-250 versus 6BR

Want to build a dual purpose 6mm bore rifle for varmint/casual target use on a repeater bolt action, and would like opinions on ballistic and potential accuracy differences between these two cartridges. I am referring to the standard .22-250 Rem.,not .250 Savage) necked up to 6mm with no other changes, not an Improved or modified case. Am seeking efficiency with relatively long barrel life and am not interested in higher capacity cases such as 6mm/.284 or .243 AI. I would plan to use heavier weight bullets,85-107 grains) with a 28" barel of appropriate fast twist to stabilize them. Realistic maximum range would be about 800 yards. My range holds regular 600 yard "egg shoots" and I am an avid prarie dog/coyote hunter. I know the 6BR has been used successfully in 600 and even 1000 yard benchrest competition, but has feeding reliability issues due to its fat case design. Can the 6mm/.22-250 approach or equal the 6BR built in a high quality, accurate target grade
rifle? Thanks for all info and opinions, pro or con.

Since I just pop in every once in a while and nobody seems t like talking to you...........I think the 6-250 has a pinch more capacity than the BR. I know 6XC brass can be formed from 22-250 and it is slightly bigger.

I don't knwo of any difference in the 6-250 and 6-22/250. Think they are the same. Are both not formed from 250 brass simply by necking down to corresponding diameter? Lots of body taper. The 250AI and 22-250AI minimize that though.

In fact look at the message board section and the 6-250 is listed in the higher capacity section.

With what you are talking about, the 6br will win in barrel life at a given velocity with all else being equal.

alinwa from the BR forum has experimented with what you mention and the 6br seems to be the consistant winner.

6br also has a longer neck and will allow more bullet veratility. As you can see in the pic below, that might be appreciated when shooting an 87 in a 105 throated chamber

the 107SMK and 105 scenar are so similar a pic of the 107 is unnecessary.
