Ok so we don't clean brass what about Die wear?

Holee Krapp, Quarter Minute with a 50BMG....... please describe your platform if you would? I'm building a couple 50's....

It started it's journey as a State Arms Shorty. The only remaining parts from the shorty is the action and bolt. It utilizes a Shell Holder Bolt (Single Shot).

It has a 35" Feddersen Barrel Bull 1.750" with an Armalite 50 BMG Break. It incorporates a custom made 30 MOA Picatinny Rail, topped by Burris Extreme 6 Screw Rings and a Nightforce NXS 8x32x56.

The action and a portion of the barrel are bedded in a Manners Carbon Fiber Stock. The Bedding, is Devcon 10110. The front and rear "slides" are aircraft grade aluminum 6061-T6, with Teflon Slide Tape.

This gun was custom made by OldmanFCSA (my shooting buddy) with me assisting. I did the bedding, with his assistance. The stock has been Hydro-dipped, using a gold metallic base, with a Candy Red and Clearcoat.

Thank You MN50Shooter, I have one of those actions and haven't been clear just how to proceed with it. I see that you bedded a portion of the forend, that may be my answer

So, while shooting do you put the bolt back in with the case inserted? And if so, is the stock knob big enough or did you make a 'T' handle?

I'm trying to move into my build with a plan instead of having to re-make everything!

I use the stock knob on the Shell holder bolt. It has plenty of strength, and I haven't had any issues with it. The action is bedded and approx 6" of barrel, extending from the action. The rest of the barrel is free floating.

It's pretty simple. Just hold the case with the neck downward while cleaning and any pieces of steel wool that break off fall downward and not into the case.
