Give this a look if you have not stumbled upon it yet.Work - how does one get rid of the unexplained fliers? Using good Lapua centerX....

Could you elaborate a bit more? Most fliers are the result of shooters trying to get accurate results out of inaccurate systems.
The first thing that you have to do is figure out what is causing them.Work - how does one get rid of the unexplained fliers? Using good Lapua centerX....

What distance were you shooting?please define an accurate system?
Mine is a Stiller Trident, KSS barrel, Bix trigger, and Ezell Tuner.
Ha! If you are going by "pictures", yep.....you aren't going to see flyers! I have tested at Lapua in Mesa at least 5 times, in the room during testing, and seen LOTS of fliers on the computer screen. You think people post pictures of that? No, they post pictures of the best groups their rifle shot.Flyers, out of all the photographs I have seen coming from the Lapua test center I have never seen a flyer?
That leads me to believe that the flyers com from set up, shooter and the big w=wind. I recently put 9 shoots in to the 10 ring and one into the 8 ring, I believe it was me not seeing a wind condition.
An accurate system will not have fliers. Good benchrest quality ammo a true flier is a very rare bird.please define an accurate system?

Scott I have watched numerous videos of rifles being tested and again not one flyer. The last target I shot (10 rounds) at 100 yds. The wind was switching from 2 o'clock to 6 o'clock but a good bit of the time it was 3 o,clock, occasionally the flag nearest the 100 yards would switch to 9 o,clock. I ended with 9 shots inside the 10 ring not even touching the line one shot in the 8 ring at 3 o,clock my fault I did not look at the last flag as I did not think it would effect the shot being close to the target.I will be going to the test center soon and if there are flyers I will post it.Ha! The rest of your post is more likely real world. Missed condition, or one that didn't show on the flags. Hitch in the rest, shooter error, or as had already been posted, just a plain old bad round in the box. It happens.
Scott
Well Dave, you are obviously shooting a different target then what I am, as 9 shots inside the 10 ring on the target I shoot that has a ten ring (IR50/50 target) at 100yds would be some kind of a world record, I'm sure! So, perhaps we should look at post #15 by Jamie and define what is a flier? A flier for a somewhat competent sanctioned RFBR shooter, and we do not compete at 100yds, is going to be a lot smaller than what you may think is a flier.....IMO. Below is a group I shot last week at 100yds with my .223. The cluster is 4 shots, the first four, at 3/8" raw. The fifth shot opened up the group to 5/8", again raw. Now center to center on the whole group is still under a half inch. Not bad for a hunting rifle. IMO was the last shot a flier? Damn straight it was!Scott I have watched numerous videos of rifles being tested and again not one flyer. The last target I shot (10 rounds) at 100 yds.
