I'm with you from the science point of view of things, but from what I see it's more like the naming of a newly discovered flower in Botany. The one who originally builds it gets to name it. Some names are cute, like the Dasher, ( still waiting for Prancer and Blitzen ), others live on even after the original namer is gone, like the Ackley. Maybe a glossary would be better than a naming convention.

What is a 6BRA? Well, it starts out as the biggest nightmare of a mistake you ever made. Then you talk to you buddies at the match and they all tell you what they are doing to get it to shoot well. So you try that but it doesn't work. Then, finally, one day you get your head out of your donkey and your mind not clouded by the drinking and the thinking about sex. Wham! The dang thing just starts shooting like everyone told you it would and it's a beautiful thing. Oh the feeling when you can finally get a good night's sleep (at least until the H4895 runs out).
