Fired at Perry during the Board matches in 1988. Had no aspirations of getting LEGS that year, just wanted to shoot. Drew a rifle out of the armory and had a ball...except for the heat...lots of heat. The meat wagon was running back and forth between the firing line and the infirmary, every day. Stayed in a hutment in the YY section and there was NO breeze at night. Had to drive all the way to Sandusky to find a fan because every store was sold out. The whole experience is one I will never forget.

It wasn't until 1993 before I got up the nerve to go back there again and I was severely outclassed.

I had shot some Applessed clinics and informal reduced course matches at our local club, so I wasn't a complete noobie when I started shooting seriously in 2017. Figured I was going to be somewhat serious about it, so I went ahead and ordered a coat. Shot a few NRA 80 round matches, send a leg match in May 2017. It didn't go well. Got myself sorted out and earned 22 points that year...two 6 point legs at Borden, IN and at Miami Valley im Cincinnati, and a 10 pointer at Perry that year. Couldn't finish it out that year like I wanted to, and moved to Australia for work for the better part of 2018. After I came back, my prone scores were better but my offhand went to hell. I finally brought it all back together at Perry in 2019 for my last 10 points, 2 weeks before my son was born. Like most shooters, my scores jumped up after legging out and not having it hanging over my head.

I'm back up here at Perry right now trying to get my spot in the P100 as we're expecting baby #2 in December. We'll see if I can get it done Monday.
