CRC - It's Official!

News Flash:

After discussions with some of our long term CRC shooters and with a minimal amount of deliberation on my part, I have revised the target format for our 2020 season. As our winds traditionally build as the day progresses, ALL matches will be set as 2 targets with a shoot off to help level the playing field for all relays. The IBS posted schedule should reflect this revision after the 1st of January.

PS: It has been great to hear from the many western state shooters who have contacted me over the last several days. We are looking forward to shooting with you all!

Jerry,

You might wait until the winter meeting, and soy rules are announced for 2020. That format wasn't technically within the rules these past couple years they've been trying it. I complained last spring, and they were supposed to be working on making it legal, but I can't find anything in the announced agenda items. Anyway, good luck. I personally despise the "mulligan format" so would retire before ever shooting it.

Clay, I can call you later if you need me to. But basically they take each target winner rather than the relay agg winner to shoot offs. Meaning you can dq, but still win the match. You can also win the agg head to head on your relay, and NOT advance to the shoot off.

Tom I'm pretty sure Jerry is talking about using target aggs to move on to the shoot off that's how we did it in the past at Colorado not mulligan format. I'm not sure why anyone would want to use the mulligan format as you described it. I hadn't even heard of that format.

I heard it was a 2 target qualifier format, Same as what Tom was talking about. Not a 2 target agg.

Yes you complained but the format is legal. Clubs have a choice. You shoot what you choose let others do the same.

By-Law principles not withstanding to that philosophy very well, or to that of an organized sport/discipline.

CRC is one of my favorite ranges. The enclosed pits are very desirable to say the least, great bench design and spacing.
It is the 2nd closets 1000-BR range to me!.!.!

Good luck with your endeavor's and will hope your format is traditional.

I guess since in the past at Colorado we always shot a three target agg to qualify for the shootoff that they would still be using the same format but two instead of three targets. I hope that is the case anyway.

I curious if you win your relay on the first target say for group then decide to shoot the second target and win score do you get to shoot for both group and score in the shootoff? If you win group on both targets and win the shootoff do you get double the SOY points.
The millennial format just doesn't make sense to me.

I agree, Why have by-laws and make it legal to go around them. Why not change the by-laws with the vote of the SHOOTERS.

Good advice Tom and that's been my plan.

Rest assured our SOY Saturday/Sunday matches in July and August will follow traditional format. Our single day (Saturday) matches will be determined by:
- what is accepted IBS protocol (pending)
- what do our local shooters find most favorable
- what will attract the most shooters to travel for a single day match
