Official Gun Pix 'Pride & Joy' Thread

Actually built myself a stock and rifle to go with it recently. I also shared some other work on " Recent Stock Projects"

Claro Walnut
Defiance Tenacity RH LA
.284 Win GAP
McGowen 28" Heavy Palma 1:9
MPA BA Mount
XTR II 5-25 (for now)
Hawkins DBM
Timney Hit

I crafted the stock, installed the remage barrel, pillar bed and put all the pieces together. Now I am just waiting on powder to start my load development

Originally had my Ken Noye stock hydrodipped in a lightning strike pattern which turned out really well. Anyway, 3 years later and this rifle has had plenty of use and the paint finish had worn back to bare laminate on the underside of the rifle from repeated tracking in the bags, so I figured it was time for a new colour. Didn't go with a hydrodip pattern this time, instead I went with a hypershift pearl, with purple/blue being used so it changes under sunlight and as you look at it from different angles. Stuck some anti-friction tape on the underside for a bit more protection and aid in tracking and she's all looking good as new again.

why do you guys have such nice yards? My Australian buddies in Iraq would show me their homes and they all have impeccable lawns. There’s a video on YouTube of a guy in Australia mowing his lawn to exactly 10mm. Not a single weed or dead piece of grass!! What’s the secret???

Here are the two uppers I built and the rests I shoot them off of which I also built. The top one is a X-caliber in 20 Practical, 24 in, 1-11 twist, the bottom one is a WOA in 223, 20 in, 1-12 twist. They both shoot 1/2 MOA or better. Both stocks are laminated Maple and Walnut. I reversed the order of the two woods to tell them apart.View attachment 991676View attachment 991677
I really like those stocks! I just finished assembling a 20 practical AR for P dogs this year.

Haha, just a lot of tender loving care mate! In all seriousness Buffalo grass is one of the hardiest but greenest grasses in the world. It will survive droughts without too much fuss over here but with regular rain during our summers and a bit of fertiliser...well that's what you end up with.

Semi custom 300 win mag ackley improved on a trued 700 action 22 inch shilen barrel 1-10 twist. On a bell and carlson long range hunter stock. Inleted the stock myself on the bridgeport. Just fire forming brass right now. Shooting under 1/2 moa fire forming with a random load I just worked up.

You fellas are a great combination of skill sets as I have said before. I like the thinking behind going out of the box on your tuner design. 20+ years ago a now gone mentor introduced me to the concept of tuning the frequency of barrel vibration in a rimfire rifle by wrapping a few turns of 50/50 solder around the barrel and shooting groups and sliding the solder in 1/8" increments along the barrel between groups then tapping the solder in place where the best group was shot.

Post the results of your tuner concept, I have a micrometer barrel or two that I use in carriage stops on the lathe that I could play with.

I may have posted this rifle before I'm not sure but I was going thru some pictures and came across it.
Remington 722
McGowen barrel chambered in 222 remington
Custom stock made be me CRS Custom Rifle Stocks
Dipped in black and silver carbon fiber by Boyz Hidz in Altoona Pa
In these pictures it has a Minox 5-25 currently it has a S3 10-50
This was my first rifle that I bought with my own money in 1982 or 84. This is also when I started reloading for my rifle as my dad said you bought it you feed it. I was 12 or 14. Its been nothing but a giant rabbit hole ever since.:(:)
