OCW Test On Shotmarker

I’m going to do an OCW test and don’t try to talk me out of it. What do you think of this? A single aiming point 2” below the center of the sensors. This way my rounds can strike dead center where I assume it would be most accurate. Shoot a group and record it in the Access Point plus Labradar. Say 10 groups, 10 records, one messy hole in the paper but not looking at that. Cheers Mike

The Shotmarker is the best thing since bullets were invented for load testing, whether shooting groups, ladders, or whatever especially at distance. I do most of my testing at 600 or 1000 depending on several things and was doing just that at 1K after a Palma match this past Saturday. I use a 3" black shot spotter as an aiming point and generally use a 42" Blank square piece of paper. The aiming point goes in the center of my calibrated frame and I just dial the scope around to move groups or keep shooting at the same spot with the same scope setting for ladders. And if groups or different loads get intermixed, it's no big deal after the fact to sort them out as long as you keep track of the order you're shooting the ammo in. Easier yet using a chronograph. I use an Oehler 35p, so as the strings are printing out I'm noting the load number on the tape. First pic shows the setup @ 600. Second shows the SM display and chrono. Don't remember what I was testing, but you can see I'm shooting 3 shot groups and just moving the poi 1/2 or 3/4 minutes one way or the other as I go.

Or just shoot your 3 shot group,save and name it,,,then get a fresh target and repeat,,that’s how I do it,,I also run my lab in sync and record the 3 shots and save,,,,love the setup

Exactly! And I want do this with as much motion management as possible. Once the rifle is straight, level and settled in the bags I definitely don’t want to move the rear bag. Also don’t need to have multiple aiming points that need to be leveled. As long as the Shotmarker records the impacts accurately enough and you save every group your Golden.

You can also shoot them all in one string and see how they overlap. Lots of ways to skin the Shotmarker cat.

Seating depth testing at 685 yards with my shot marker. It's become my favorite piece of long range equipment. I'd give up everything else before I'd go back to shooting blind at long distance. It's saved me a lot of money on scopes already as I'm not chasing the mythical "resolves bullet holes at 600+" optics for my guns anymore.

Same here, I've got use for one and they look extremely handy.

Checked the price, a reasonable $800. Just think of all the useful shooting equipment that can be had for $2,500

these things are a bargain in my opinion, this is something I would probably pay $2500 for without blinking an eye. One would be on order already but I need to figure out how to transport the frame downrange on a golf cart and attach it to our flip up target frames before I order. A frame for 300 would not be a problem but @ 800 a wooden frame could be cumbersome. I am thinking something that could be assembled out of PVC maybe

apologies to the OP, not meaning to hijack the thread but this thing has my interest now

Shots 789 (44.0) are overlapping quite well.

You can also shoot them all in one string and see how they overlap. Lots of ways to skin the Shotmarker cat.

This may be more on topic for the OP. Here is a quick ladder I did a short while ago with H4350 in my 6.5x47 (pictured above)

Labeling all the groups gets messy, but I have X and Y turned on for the tags so I can see where the center of the group is: very useful for ladders.

the images could be imported into other programs such as Photoshop or Ontarget and shots could be tinted then the images layered and merged. I can think of a few possibilities but I think it is really informative just as it is

I like it. I’ve always thought of a latter test as one shot per charge weight. Groups and measuring from the center are what I’d call an advanced latter. Or why not call it an OCW. Same information different names.

I just got it! About the group centers that is. At first I thought the x and y were measurements of the group. They are the groups center from the target center. Minus being left or below. I like it even more now!!! How did you activate that feature?
