NRA Worth It…no service???

I'll retain my membership for both me and Mrs. jd. That way we get both American Rifleman and American Hunter Mags. I've got a hunch a lot of folks here also get the magazines, since our various topics often mirror some of the articles in the mags.

As the resident of a commie controlled state, I think we need to also stay informed and contribute to a more localized organization. And that can be difficult to choose, often between three or four different groups who are sometimes at odds with each other over strategy, money, etc.

-- that is why I think the best option is still something BIG like the NRA used to be, with a bazillion of us in a huge powerful pool of 2nd Amendment fanatics. (and I mean fanatics in a good way :) ) jd

I'm still pissed at the quietly disappeared Life Member perks. They silently dropped the life insurance and gun insurance a good while back. Those had value, to me at least, and they were silently discontinued. I still get and enjoy the monthly magazine and hope that since WLP is gone things will change for the better.

As I recall, back in the "good ol days", those benefits, at least to some degree were for ALL members, not just lifers. And it was a great benefit to have, as well as a perk to offer for new members. jd

There no service at the NRA. Chat is available. Couldn’t find a phone number. I’ve been trying to log into the competitor portal and it’s harder than opening an account at a bank. I go to chat, wait, they send me to an e-mail…. Is there no one to call? I wasn’t happy to join recently due to NRA mis-management. It seems like with the huge amounts of money the NRA collects they’d fight to provide great service.

Just a rant I guess. Maybe someone has an inside track on a human being to speak to there…
So I did get some help by phone and the people cared. Ive not recieved a call back about the log on issue but still there were nice people on the other end willing to help. If I was an a$$ I will eat crow. Hope they get stronger and stronger we need them WE competitors need them 100%.
and this number on their webpage 1-800-392-8683.

As a match director who has to deal with them, I can tell you that the Competition Division has taken a nosedive! They have gone through 4 Directors in the last year. Why?
Payroll, workload, ???

I just spent an hour submitting 6 dates for 2025 matches. First, I completed the paper form, scanned it, and emailed it. All 6 dates were clearly printed on the form.

I got an email from "Donna". She said that only 3 of my dates were acknowledged and provided a link to register my matches online.
Why only 3?

I submitted all 6 dates via online. We'll see what happens.

I've had various issues with them in 2024. I can't figure out why.

I didn't exactly do a "deep dive" , but in looking this one over it looks pretty good. A good state by state breakdown, and it looks possible to direct your donations where you feel best.
We poor schmuks who live in commietard territory better realize that our actual cash donations may be waaayyy more important than our actual vote in our state of residence. BUT STILL VOTE!!! jd

I didn't exactly do a "deep dive"either, but they are based out of WA state and clearly they haven't helped the situation there as it's far worse than in Oregon. Hopefully we'll prevail on OR 114 issues

My sign might not be in the yard, but it's a nice addition to the reloading room!

As for the NRA, yeah I was a member for many years when I was younger then it was clear things were taking a turn for the worse so I quit renewing. I was poor enough back then I never considered a life membership but now kinda wish I had. I'm in a wait and see mode on the NRA, likely the only reason I'd join again any time soon is to get in at a range that requires NRA membership. So far I'm resisting that, but mostly because the ranges I'd like to join have 3+yr waiting lists and I'm not planning to be on the wet side that much longer.

You are correct. Until the electoral system is propagated to the county level within these leftist states (never happen) our vote is tantamount to pissing in the wind. SAF is actively filing lawsuits across the nation in support of 2A and our money supports those filings. Until these suits make it to the SCOTUS we will not know whether we still have a 2A. Recent refusal to hear cases is disconcerting however.

Bottom line is that they are one of the only games in town. The NRA is nowhere to be seen. That they are located in Bellevue is telling. Bellevue happens to be a conservative enclave surrounded by leftists in all directions. But you go ahead and keep voting along with residents of CA and WA. Word of caution though, napkins are not being handed out to wipe ones wet face with. Voting in these state IS tantamount to pissing in the wind.

Um... maybe you want to read my post a couple more times. I am definitely not a libtard and don't vote with them and as a native Oregonian I dearly hate Californicators.

Are they still buying Wayne’s suits? Dam it
Did any of the crooks in NRA get convicted? Their entire upper staff were crooks and lived high on the hog with our money. I am a Life Member and I am disappointed in their magazine. 90% of the articles are just advertising that someone pays money for. They disguise the articles as evaluations of new products. Don't remember ever seeing. an article on Bench Rest Comp or Varmint hunting. They seem to cover big game hunting and leave the rest of us out.

My comment was under the assumption that you did not vote with them. The trouble is that far too many people who did not vote with the majority assume that their vote matters. It does not matter. You can vote until your head caves in that the results will always be the same. That being a continuing assault on 2A by the leftist majority. Our only option is to put our money were our belief system is and fight it out in the courts. Even victory in the courts is no guarantee that things will change. These people know that they are violating your Constitutional rights and they don't care. They will just pass another law that once again needs years in the courts to overcome. Still, contributing to the cause is better than not. The results associated with not fighting in court are quite predictable.
