NRA Range Development Services

Texas Solo

B.S. High Master
My club purchased land several years ago and is now ready to start building a new 1000yd range. First we have too sell off the timber. But we could use guidance after that.

I've made 2 attempts to contact NRA Range Development division. Left voice mails and emailed. I got crickets.

You would think that the NRA would be happy to see new ranges being built, especially 1000yd ranges. They have this development division and talk a good game on their website, but I'm starting to believe it's all talk.

So the questioni is:
WHERE'S THE NRA WHEN YOU NEED THEM?

I used to work for a Friends of the NRA group that sent the money to the state to be distributed as shooting sports grants. I do know that there were certain range requirements for building ranges so certainly the state organization can help.

We're in Alabama. I don't think we have a state rep.
Well, ya' need to change your name then to "Alabama Solo". 'Alabama State Rifle &Pistol Association',,, easily found on-line with contact info to the officers. Every region has NRA reps, that help/give advice to the State Associations. I stay active in the ORA, and if I wanted help with range development, I'd call/email one of the officers . I think I remember our NRA Regional Rep covers Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and probably a couple of others.

In Huntsville. James Moses.
I've emailed him to request help. We'll see, but I don't have high hopes.

Also, I lived in TX for 11 years.
