Hello,
I am trying to find info related to new range developement. I am gathering information to provide to the decision makers. This project is in the very early,infant) stages of planning/studying. If this happens, this will be the only formal range in a county with a population of about 25,000 and also within an approximate 1000 sq mile area. It is hoped that the final project ends up with 100, 200 and 300 yard ranges, trap range and 50-100 yard handgun range. NRA affiliation is also a goal. The location is in central Colorado and in the mountains,10,000 ft.elev.). I have all the info from the NRA site and am in the process of contacting them and will be getting their planning/design manual and am hoping that someone who is directly involved with this project will be able to attend the NRA Range Development and Operations Conference in 2009. In the meantime, I am wishing to obtain some information on a few items:
1. What are others doing related to lead cleanup/recycling on rifle/handgun areas and trap areas?
2. I read awhile back somewhere, about a company who will come in and basically sift/screen the berms to remove the lead/bullets and then reinstall the berms. Has anyone read about this and if so, would you provide info?
3. Yearly insurance costs?
4. Members only vs. opening to public?
5. Type of organization - 501,c)3? LLP? LLC? Other?
6. Property ownership issues - what do others mainly do? Do they own the land? Lease the land? Rent the land?
7. Often overlooked problems/setback issues?
Any input/ideas are greatly appreciated!
