NRA, GOA, or 2nd Amendment Foundation,

Seems to be a member of a particular range, I must join one of the above. Several years ago I filled out the NRA application and wrote a check for a 3 year membership, but could not bring myself to mail it due to all of the shenanigans from the leadership. I realize that the organization does some good, but I have total disdain for the leadership.

So, which organization do you guys recommend I join.
 
The NRA has done nothing but defend WLP in the last 2 years. the only influence they have left is with those that advertise in the NRA magazines.
 
Agreed that the NRA is a lost cause. I was at Cincinatti and I am a Benefactor member and I do believe the NRA and their Board and Officers are lost beyond redemption. I am impressed by the Second Amendment Foundation and I have enjoyed Mas Ayoob's writings and teachings. However reviewing such material as the Wikipedia entry (I hasten to add written and edited as is the practice on Wikipedia with a strong bias but.....) on the other leadership at Second Amendment Foundation has suggested to me that GOA is the best of that lot. So I've gone on to add GOA life to in effect supersede my NRA life membership.
 
What has the NRA had to say about braces, AR pistols, and assault rifle bans? In the past the headlines are full of responses from WLP. All I hear is crickets.

I am, as shown in my signature line, a NRA Benefactor Life Member. I made that decision way before all the indiscretions of WLP were made public. I was also a regular donor to them but that has long since been redirected. I now donate to GOA (and have an annual membership) as well as VA Citizen's Defense League.
I realize VCDL isn't a choice for what you need and that is a shame. IME, they are doing a yeoman's job of fighting for 2A and, even though it is in Virginia, the fight will help us all.
 
IMO, all of these organizations are flawed.

I would suggest that we shouldn't let perfect be the enemy of good. Find one that makes a difference in an area you notice and support them. But, be darn sure to verify they're actually successful in their works and don't just take credit of other's work.
