NRA Distances for Short, Mid, Long and Extreme Long Range

Got into a discussion on another forum and the question came up, "What is Long Range". There has been a lot of, "well I think...". I also have what I think, but what is the range distance for each of the classes.
To clarify, I am talking center fired ammunition not 22LR.

Here is what I think it is, but would prefer what NRA says:

Short Range 0-300 yards
Mid Range 301-600 yards
Long Range 601-1200 yards
Extreme Long Range >1200 yards

So what say you fellow shooters of knowledge?

I'm pretty sure NRA has no "Extreme Long Range" definition. Get a copy of the NRA rule book and study it.

NRA/CMP Rules for High Power:

Short range - 200yds. (standing off-hand)
Mid-range - 300-600yds. (prone rapid @ 300, Fullbore prone 300-500-600)
Long Range - 800-1000 yds. (prone)
Beyond that I am not aware of any fixed longer distances.

300 is the swing distance.
The above is true for the way matches are arranged but for targets we get this:

Note: The military target for 200 and 300 yards is known as “Target, Rifle,
Competition, Short Range” and the target for 500 and 600 yards is known
as “Target, Rifle, Competition, MidRange.” These definitions are abbreviated as “SR” and “MR” respectively in the descriptions which follow for
the reduced targets.

So a 'mid-range' match at 300 is really a reduced midrange with reduced 600 yard targets shot at the outer limit of short range.

CMP seems to be settling into XTC distance(200-600) with some long range(800-1000) events.

My personal thoughts have always been

0-299-short range
300-600-mid range
601-1000-long range
1001+ extended long range.

I don’t like the works “extreme”. My extreme might be someone else’s “normal”
