Nosler RDF Bullets

@ASbobcat -
Bearing surface taper on Berger's is a common thing that I see.
Myself, I prefer skinny bullets over fat bullets, have had better success with them. In my own experience; I typically find skinny bullets like lighter neck tension and fat bullets like more tension.

I'm glad to know it wasn't just my measuring technique. I suppose the taper makes it easier to eject the bullet from the production die.

You guys have just made me want to try some RDF's

There is one other factor to consider. The RDF's are about .030in longer than Berger VLD's (1.260+/- vs 1.230+/-[after pointing]). That difference is important because twist calculators show a BC penalty for the RDF of about 2% in 1:8 twist at 3000fps (sea level). Something to think about at 1000yds and beyond.

running a 7 twist now!

I have been using the RDF bullets since the first "seconds" were made available. I run them at 2980 or so in a 1-8 twist barrel.
My engineering background puts a 2% less BC way down the list of accuracy killers. I'm way more interested in variations of measurements than absolutes. So, I use RDF's.

What BC have you been seeing?

Absolute measurements are necessary when using ballistic calculators. I never inferred that BC had anything to do with accuracy.

The bc stated by Nosler is a little less than stated... I have shot the 175's out to 1020 yds and they can out shoot the yellow and green box bullets with over 2 mintues of elevation less ... For a lot cheaper..Do the math and you can shoot more and keep more in the center.....

I bought 500 of them, haven't shot one yet.

Picked up a box of 70 gr RDFs today.. Got em at a great price.. shot a screamer today with the Berger 80.5s.. i hope that these will do as well or better.. but it would be nice to just be as good!

Ok.. so i did some separating on the box that i picked up.. i was impressed by how close they were

Scott, thank you for putting an end to that pissing contest with some great data. This is my fist time on this forum, and now I'm headed out to buy some 175 RDFs. thanks. (Cabelas has them on sale for $27.99 and your 140s for $25.59)
