Nosler partition anyone?

Load your open heel Nosler Partitions backwards for better weight retention, penetration & accuracy.
(never seen or heard of a Partition pass through on an Alaska/Yukon moose in 30+years)

Swift A Frames &/or Speer Grand Slams will render your Partitions useless.

I've shot NP since the late 60's. LOL. I can remember my shooting buddies saying, "you must have a bunch of money to be shooting Noslers", (Sierras were the king of the hill back then). Never had a single animal get away when the Nosler plowed into them.

I have killed antelope, mule deer and elk, including a large 6 pt bull with my Ruger 77, in 30-06 and Nosler Partitions in 150 gr for the lite stuff and 180 gr for elk., since 1975. All broadside shots went clear thru, all animals recovered, most only went a few yards, the big elk made it about 40 yards. All one shot kills. It ain't broke so why should I fix it.

Thin skinned game is a simple task.
Heck deer/antelope are easily anchored w/ a 22 center fire chambering.

Attempting to anchor an 1800Lb animal that doesn't flinch when shot in the boiler room is another issue all together.

Good Luck w/ your Partitions!

Back before my elk hunting trip I wanted to see what my rifle was capable of, so I went rifle, federal premiums with Nosler Partitions and much apprehension to see my friend John at the junk yard. There was a giant well pressure tank that got shot to see what would happen to the front half of the bullet. The exit side had a clean hole that almost looked as if a drill made it, but was slightly flared around the edges. Just above that hole was a place that the front part of the jacket made after it sheared off at the partition, it almost went through and had many redial cracks and a slight hole in the center.. I shot a Chevy pick up in the tail gate and it exited the hood, how ever the only motor part it hit was the carburetor. the bullet impacted the berm in front of the truck with much velocity. Several shots into a 6-71 Detroit diesel engine broke thick pieces of cast iron that formed the block. I had complete confidence in the partitions after my trip to the junk yard.

I wasn't lucky enough to own a rifle that could cluster them into anything better than 1.5 MOA...sometimes worse. Good enough for hunting I guess.

This is about what I have experienced with them. They are a definite killer, so forget about good groups and just go kill an animal. I couldn't even get 2" groups with the 60 grain 224 partitions...they fly all over the place. I even tried them in a 1-in-9 barrel. If you want a bullet that reliably kills and will still shoot a nice group try the Long range Accu-Bond.

I've wondered if the Swift A-Frame would do better. Never tried them.

Nosler Partitions are the King of killing, at least for me. I have shot most all others and they do well (some), but the partition has never failed me.

You will need a 12 twist to get great accuracy with the .224 partition with the 14 twist shooting 1 1/2-2 1/2" groups.

In a 22/250, the 60g Partition will do more damage to a deer than a 30/06 with a 150g Sp.
Good to know bud. I'll be using my 22-250 AI with some partitions to fill a doe tag this fall. I'll give you my results after Nov.

Not to hijack this thread but I'm having hell getting 140gr .264 partitions to group well in a 6.5 Creedmoor. Nosler BT's will consistently shoot .3 moa but the partitions are more like 1 moa. I'm suspecting it's a seating depth issue. I'm not jumping them much - about .010 - because everything else I shoot in this rifle shoots better with very little jump. What is the story with partitions - what kind of jump do they TEND to like?

I've shot plenty of partitions in factory ammo and love their terminal performance. Just struggling with them reloading. I'm more used to Berger HVLDs

They are what all hunting bullets are compared to. One of 3-4 i would trust in 22cal for deer/pig bullet. Have seen few guns not like them well but way more that did. Lots of damage om target have seen holes as large as girls soft ball on both sides, if you hit bone almost explosive. If they run it ain't far and buckets of blood. Cant go wrong.

In my 7-08. Federal Premium with the 140 partitions shoot 1" all day. They work magic on deer and hogs. I load 7-08 but mostly to range shoot. I bought a case of the Fed ammo for hunting in the mid 90s and still have 2-3 boxes left. Can't complain if your gun likes factory ammo.
