I`m not near my brass / notes @ home, what is a good no turn neck diameter for .222 Lapua brass???

Neck thickness unturned???

Thanks,

Phil.

I don't actually have a 222 Lapua brass in front of me Phil, but I don't think we would be more than .0005" off if we assume that the brass thickness at mouth is .012". That would make for a .248" loaded neck diameter. Throw on however much more you want for clearance and --- jd

Thanks JD,

I can`t remember what the heck it was, but .250-.251 sounded right to me too.....

I guess I`ll wait and order the reamer next week.......:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The loaded outside neck diameter(unturned) of my Lapua 222 match brass is .250. Older Lapua 222 brass w/o the "match" head stamp has a loaded outside neck diameter of .248. The general "internet consensus" is that Lapua outsourced this older brass.

I have a 222 with .250 neck....can not use Lapua without neck turning...I would go with a 252. neck for no turn.. Winchester and Remington brass is no turn with my .250 neck.

Thanks guy`s, I`ll be confirming measurements tonight, my memory needs a boost from time to time.....

Ditto

My Lapua match 222's neck thickness is .125. Nosler makes this brass so I got 200 to replace their 222 Rem mag brass that developed case body splitting! The Nosler is thinner at .115. I am impressed with this Nosler brass as the wt variation was very small, case mouth chamfered and primer pockets are REALLY tight.

The only .222 reamer that I have used is .251. Like others though, I do not use Lapua brass in this rifle. My rifle is a 700BDL Sporter so if I lose Winchester brass while out walking, I don't get as frustrated.

PT&G #30248. .251 neck .024 lead (.037" total). Described as a "tight factory no turn neck".
