Nite hunting with a gen 4 are 5

I have no experience with these and would like to hear from people who use them to call yotes? Are they easy to zero and are they accurate at 300 yards? Are they worth the price of 7000.00 dollars???

That would make the first coyote worth 7000.00 dollarsLOL. Why not just go gen 3,much cheaper for sure.

Like i said i know nothing about them except what i have read,i was looking for some one that has used them to find out more.

Stick with gen 3 it will work just fine for yote hunting. 4 and 5 are so expensive you buy it and realize there was no real reason after using a gen 3 at a hunt.

I have used a gen3 my buddy has and it is like broad daylight. So to speak. It will have a green cast with little to no snow in the picture like the old tube type tv's.If you spend 7000.00 you could buy5 45 power leupold competition scopes to boot or close to it.

Google Pulsar Digiscope N750. Black and white image, good contrast, neat reticle with a red (or green) dot, 4x or 6.75 x magnification, good out to 600 yards, can be used day or night. I am a dealer for it, use it myself, and am very pleased with it. There is a special on now for $1,450.00 plus shipping. I think you will like it. Best scope for the money I know of...

Get ahold of 5spd on this forum. I know he hunts a lot at night with night vision just not sure what he uses.

Well, I'll chime in here.
I've owned Gen.3, Gen.2+. Thermals etc....
Here are some things to watch out for since your looking into a pricey investment. First thing is Gen.2+ with a good illuminator is all u need for calling yotes. 150yd shots is easy. (You said "calling yotes")
Also go with the following;Pinnacle Tubes are .223 rated and that's really it. They aren't made for .308 even though they have and are on a lot of .308's..the life span is shortened. To cover your bases go L3 Tubes all the way.
Then there is dedicated night scopes and clip-ons (CNVD). You will have a better and clearer image through dedicated scopes vs. CNVD, however tying up one gun strictly to night hunting is a bummer. Also dedicated scopes tend to be bulkier and heavier but the better image is a trade off. Then comes CNVD which u can jump from gun to gun and lots less bulky and weighty.
Also Pulsar like mentioned earlier has come a long way, still making a moving shot is not totally real time. Pulsar has to make it a digital image and therefore has lag. More or less lag time depends on how fast ur scanning or tracking down moving animal. Close shots on walking yote makes no difference, kill them dead all day, running is another story.
$7000 for NV starting out is a risky move at best. If u got that extra to burn or gonna hunt for a living. I could possibly outfit you with thermals and NV for that change. PM me if you would like to get some prices and or questions regarding NV scopes.

I use a Night Optics D740 3rd gen NV scope. It is VERY clear, green/red reticle depending on what you want to use, easy to sight in during the day w/front cover closed of course.
I got the autogated one as well.
I have no problem shooting to 400 yards when I have a need to, BUT 99.9% of the time they are closer to 45-100 yards. My longest shot was 320 yards on a coyote that came running in and then blew out to and just sat there. For under $7k you can have a 3rd gen scope & a Flir ps32 handheld thermal which is what I have as well. That makes a perfect combination for night calling.
I shot 117 night coyote w/this set up last year and have 37 so far this year w/it.

I would like to think everone for there replies and i will look into a gen 3. I like the D740 because it works in the field as stated. I will be putting it on a 223 rem R 15 which i have driveing tacks at 200 yds. The yote population is about to go down!

Smart move. Shop around the 100s of NV sites for the best price also and look for free shipping which many include.
don't forget to look at the night optics XLR IR. Its going to be used most of the time I guarantee, makes a 100% difference in pitch black nights.
