nightforce FCR-1 or DDR-2 reticle

Looking to purchase a dedicated FTR scope for next year, mainly 1000yd. Looked through a competition with a DDR-2 reticle, liked the whole idea of the small dot and using the target as hold over. Looking for input on the FCR-1 reticle, is it too busy compared to the DDR?

Completely up to you, whichever you like. Reticles are very personal.

There was a thread a few yrs ago that I seem to remember that the majority of the F class shooters were using the NP-2DD, I have 3 of those and a DDR2.

I LIKE THE 2DD at our range in PA. I use the post as an aiming point to hit the clay birds on our back bank which is about 40 yards further, then use the center dot and I'm centered up.

Wish they had a "try out some scopes day at the range" day, would really help solve this conundrum! Been using a ffp h2cmr reticle @ 25x power, kinda blocks the view but like the ability to accurately correct my shots with reticle measurements.

NF no longer supplies the CH1 reticule and they will not retrofit it. I like to hold off with a fine crosshair. I bought a Sightron 10-50 with that reticule and like it a lot.

The FCR -1 allows one to measure corrections in Moa when the scope is at 40X.
I find this very useful however this option won't work on electronic targets.
Personally I think it needs slightly thicker cross hairs for better use on heavy mirage days.
Plus I have also been in NF ear about making all hashes the same,
The odd number hashes are only T pieces and often difficult to see as well.

Thanks APB that is the information I was looking for. Still wish I could use them both for comparison before buying.

One very obvious note is that the Comp scopes have by far the best glass of any NF scope to date.
You will see more mirage detail than either a BR or NXS will show.

The only times I care about which reticle is in my scope is when hunting or shooting steel for fun. For that it is always going to be an NP-R1 or the newer MOAR (T).

For 600/1000 benchrest or any type of "F" class shooting, it JUST DOESN'T MATTER....TO ME. I was asked one time what reticles were in my 1000 yard LG and HG when I won nationals...I didn't have a clue. I had to go look. They were both different.

Like was said above......purley a personal preference.

Good luck,
Tod
