Nightforce 12-42 BR or Sightron SVSSED

I own two NF 12-42 BR. One NP and one CH-3. I'm thinking of moving to a Sightron 10-50 E.D. glass, target dot. I've never looked through a Sightron and probably will not get to another match till next year. I'm 73, and eyes are getting weaker, but I still like the tiny dot.

I cannot afford the Sightron without selling one of the NFs. Shooting will be rimfire @ 50 yds. Is it worth it to move to the Sightron E.D. for improved optics? Is there that much difference? I would like to hear from someone who has used both.

I am aware that I will have to buy new rings.

How about a Sightron fixed power 45x45 ED 30 mm tube very reasonably priced optic with excellent reviews.

There is no comparison, I have had them both. The Sightron is brighter and worlds better mechanically plus gives you more power. My 12 x 42 was back to NF 3 times. Never a problem found. Still would not hold POI. I sold it, told the buyer the whole history. It had just came back from the third No Problem Found with another sticker on it as to its passing all NF requirements. He had it about 6 weeks and sold it. He told me,"You where right." Only drawback with the new Sightron is the weight but if that's not an issue it's bright, crisp, mechanically perfect. I bought it last year, I shoot a lot of multi distance matches....to date...no problems found. I know there are many NF scopes t.hat have given their owners great service but my biggest gripe is they never acknowledge a problem. It's always you mounts, your rings, installed improperly and so on. Turned me off. Get the Sightron, I am sure you will love it, the fine focus knob is an added bonus.
