Nightforce or Sightron for my .30BR ?

I have been waffling back and forth between the SIII long range 10-50 x 60 or the NF 12-42 x 56 benchrest. What are your thoughts on these two? The scope will go on a short range score rifle and I'll be using it for informal and club level shooting. The lower cost of the Sightron is attractive but I thought I would ask here before I commit. I'm thinking I will probably go with a dot reticle in either scope. I should also mention that I work at a gun shop so I can get either scope at wholesale pricing.

Thanks in advance!

I have 4 or 5 of the NF br's and love them all. I also have 3 of the big S3's and 2 of the sv's. I love my sv's. I believe the S3's for the money are awesome my only issue is some are brighter than others. For your stated purpose I believe you will be happy with either one and you will not be "under scoped" with either. No matter what anyone tells you. I also have some NF comp's and just one march. I have a pretty good comparison group here at the house.

I’ve had a few, the Sightron I miss the most is the 8-32x 56, good price good glass not too big and plenty of power.

The Sightrons are an excellent value but so is the NFBR used and they have proven to be pretty much bullet proof. Not the best glass, but sufficient in a proven mechanical design. Just my 2 cents is all. Either is a good option. The BR is heavy but not likely a big issue if it's a 13.5lb BR rifle, which most of them used in score matches are. I like the np2dd nf reticle over crosshairs too but again, that's just me. You may not.

Buy this one and put some change in your pocket https://sightron.com/collections/riflescopes/products/siii-competition-45x45-ed. It took me a bit to get used to a fixed power when getting set up, but no big deal after a few range sessions. The 1/10 MOA adjustments are handy. Put the weight in your barrel. Just a thought.
I like to put the weight where I need it most. That's not always in the barrel. Actually gone back to a little lighter contours for balance, handling and they seem to tune a bit easier. Not necessarily better but easier to see on target. I like that as opposed to shooting decent even if a little out of tune, when the clock is running and the flags are crazy. I can fix the tune if I can see it. That's a biggie to me. Edge Sightron, in this regard fwiw.

Both are excellent scopes. I had both with fine crosshair and dot reticle. The only problem with Nightforce BR is they do not offer that reticle anymore. If you are determined to get that reticle you will have to get lucky and find a used Nightforce. You can get a new Sightron with the fine crosshair and dot.

If price is a concern, I would let your wallet make the final decision. You can’t go wrong either way. The Nightforce will hold a little better resale value if that matters to you.

First off, have YOU looked through them?
Thats the first thing, everyone eyes are different.
I prefer a floating dot reticle.
I have looked through the Nightforce BR but not the Sightron, I don't know anyone who has one. The NF looked pretty good, plenty clear enough to get the job done.

Best advice so far! Love my 45x45. Lancexxx has them on sale right now. He is a forum member and supporter. Buchanan Accuracy.
You will not be sorry with this scope. Great weight if trying to stay under a certain point for match weigh ins.

I have 2 SIII 8x32x56 and love them. I sent one back to get 1/8" turrets and I'll be doing the same for the other one in the new year.
