Winchester Arms died Oct 2006 after almost 151 yearsYep, 61,000 members here could give Winchester a bad name!
Looking for some advice.
For xmas, my (incredible) wife gave me a brand new rifle in 6.5 prc. I've been shooting/reloading AR-15s but this is my first real bolt-action.
Upon borescoping it, the crown seems messed up...but I'm not sure how big a deal to make out of it. For transparency, all I've done with this gun is unboxed it (ie no hap-hazard cleaning). I just e-mailed the manufacturer today to see what they say. But was curious what I should be pushing them to do here (new rifle, recrown the barrel)?

And discuss, the AWESOME "Merits" of,.. TIKKA, Rifles over, a Nice glass of Wine !Yup..best take her out for a nice dinner no matter how this turns out...Sir.
Read / Do,.. THIS ^^^^ BEFORE you waste your,.. Time / Money !I would test fire it... It may shoot just fine.. They may ask how it shoots.. Bore scopes are not always your friend..
YUP,.. See the above, 2 PostsThat barrel is cr-p.
But here is your problem. They mght hit you with the old “it’s within manufacturing tolerance” line.
ROUGH Barrels from, some Manufacturers ARE, the "Norm" Today, SADLY !At first I thought the same thing, but there is no way someone mounted a scope before I got it. I am assuming the copper there was from proofing/test-firing.
Agree with,.. THIS ^^^The easiest thing to do first is clean the barrel and re evaluate. I have seen things through the bore scope I swore was a bad barrel miraculously be gone after being cleaned. It may or may not but for 5-10 minutes of your time..
There are pros and cons to this avenue. They id suggest that I shoot it first...I may/may not given how bad it looks.
I've got a paid shipping label from their customer support, so fingers crossed. I generally like to give folks the benefit of the doubt...so hopefully they'll make good by this. The "delay" may not be that big of deal as I can't get serious with this gun until I the brass I backordered arrives...which is likely months out.

Wow. Are you sure those bullets weren't launched backwards?Gotta send back a brand new lever action 22mag that cant launch a bullet straight with forgotten rifling.
They were launched backward...after leaving the barrel.those bullets weren't launched backwards?
