NIB Gun with damaged crown

I sent a new shotgun back to CZ - gap between the choke and barrel step (shaving wads).

Received NEW shotgun with different serial number. Inspected with borescope prior to firing, same issue. Sent back.

Received another NEW shotgun, again, different serial number.

Both new, different serial numbers, were delivered to my doorstep.

An update.

I got the replacement . It is a different gun/serial, UPS delivered it right to my door. No signature required.

I have to admit I'm disappointed/frustrated. Basically the replacement has pretty much the same poor crown and the stock channel is crooked (though not touching the barrel). To do my diligence, I took it to the range today, and it has the same precision/accuracy issues. I got one singular good group at ~.7"@100. Everything else was in the 1.3-2"+ range. FWIW, I was shooting my scoped AR-15 while the Winchester cooled between groups. Those groups were hovering around .7-.9". Pretty confident it wasn't a "bad day" for me.

Some evidence. The bore/crown as it looked "out of the box". As it looked after the range today (and cleaned). I can only assume that whomever is crowning the barrels for these guns is making a mess of things. This is 0 for 2.

I called support, this one is going back. I may be picking up some other 6.5PRC to tide me over since this is apparently going to take a while(if ever) to get to a good place.

Crowns, bedding and triggers are a constant problem on new factory rifles I see them come through my shop on a regular basis, I tell the client to send it back to the manufacturer or I offer a basic accurizing service that consists of first bore scoping the chamber and barrel to determine if the rifles is actually worth working on then cutting a new crown, proper pillar bedding if it's not a Tupper ware stock and a trigger job or trigger adjustment as needed, this will almost always get the factory rifle to shoot well enough for most folks shooting factory guns.
Ya'll have a great day.

I guess I have been lucky until now. I just wouldn't have expected this at the $1300 price-point as much as the $500 entry-level hunting rifle.

After looking at those bores and crowns I've come to the conclusion of where your rifles were made . Care to take a guess ?

Where are Winchester guns made now?

March 23, 2021

Once the U.S. Repeating Arms plant closes March 31, the only new rifles carrying the famous Winchester name will be the modern, high-end models produced in Belgium, Japan and Portugal. The older models, including the famous Winchester Model 94, will be scrapped.

Here are some photos of a Savage 12 barrel I cut off on my table saw. They look better than the OP's barrel.

Another update.

Earlier this week I saw on their online service tracker that "work was complete". I called to see what the ultimate resolution would be. The story I was given by the person on the phone was that the gun shot to spec "as-is" and I'd be given the targets both of which were <.4". Also that they "lapped and cleaned the barrel out of goodwill". I was pretty clear that I was dubious that work wasn't required given I was seeing 1.5"+ and visible crown damage before I sent it in. Interestingly, they shared that 1.5" is there benchmark. Needless to say, I left that conversation frustrated/disappointed.

I got the gun back today. I scoped it again, its pretty clear that they did in fact chamfer the crown. Not the cleanest thing I've seen (just got a bartlien ar barrel in 223 CLE which is an absolute marvel). This being said, I'll be interested to see if it's really printing the 3/8" groups they report.

In either case, what a missed customer service opportunity...

From what I'm used to, there's a lot of copper and carbon in that barrel for just a few shots.
