NF or Sightron Please Help Preacher

What do you guys think. I am looking at a NF 12-42x56 or a sightron 10-50x60. Please help me. which is better? :-\

I have both and prefer the Sightron. I think it boils down to which looks best through YOUR eyes. Tracking is great on each, plus you save a good chunk of $$$ with the Sightron.

+ 1 on the Sightron :) 8) Haven't heard anything about bugs to be worked out. IMO, the only thing Nightforce has on Sightron is the choice of reticles. Even at that, a quick trip to Bill Ackerman will solve that issue.

Thanks JRS i will give him a call. I will go with sightron, NF is a good scope but i don't think they are worth the price.

I did have a Sightron 10-50 and replaced it with a NF 12-42 NXS. You really can't compare the two.

More often than not there is a reason why something is a lot cheaper than some other product ; very often extra costs cant be seen eg quality of materials used, amount of material used etc. Although I dont own a Sightron I own several Leupold and Zeiss scopes but my most treasured scope is my Nightforce NXS 8-32. This scope is definately worth the amount of money I spent on it and sometimes I actually think it is a bargain. The optics world today is very competitive and for a Sightron to be so much cheaper indicates to me that they probably cut some corners somewhere to keep costs down. The bottom line is there are no free lunches and you get what you pay for.

I have both the 8x32 and the 10x50 Sightrons and lots more Nightforces and will continue to add to the NF pile..... The Sightrons are good but I like the NF's better for what I do...
For the extra $2 to $300.00 more I'll stick with NF..... I can sell them later for really close to what was paid for them, not so with the Sightrons...

Thank to all of yall for the info, guess i better go with NF. What ring height do i need for a 56mm with a Pit rail, it's going on a 40x short action Thank T 700

High Signature rings will work fine with most all barrel dimensions.. mediums depend on barrel diameter..

Bill Ackerman- (575) 589-3833 If his email hasn't changed: oscscope@aol.com
I don't think that Ackerman can change reticles etched in glass?
Bill Ackerman is the person Sightron sends their customers to. I have had him change reticles in 4 of my Sightron scopes.

Has he done an SIII for you or another model? He told me personally that he can't do the SIII because they are etched.
