Next Generation Varminter

A lot of my varmint hunting customers are discovering some of the new calibers, stocks and chassis options that are available today. Many are traditionalists.

Long story short I'm going to be doing a new build for pdogs and I will be using a 6bra barrel on a Mack Bros action on an MPA Chassis with a Trigger tech Diamond trigger.

The 6bra will be for 85 Sierra Hp, 87vmax, 80 and 88 Berger varmint. I will post pictures and thoughts. Maybe others would like to discuss this idea.

Do they have guaranteed headspacing like the Bighorn Origin? This is so that you can order a shouldered barrel without needing the action for fitting?

I just spoke to their technical support on the phone and they do guarantee the headspace. I also talked to them about becoming a dealer

That's awesome. Now the harder question....Do they make it in left hand? If so, I'm game.

For these bullets I would have to go with the 104 fb as the 50 fb is just too close to the donut for my taste. Especially if there is some jump on the bullet.

Because I ordered one for my buddy and it is so crazy comfortable.

Donuts are bad. All cases get donuts after a few reloads. Best to avoid the neck junction.

I think I have come full circle, having started with wood stocked rifles in the 70s & 80s.
I think I put my first synthetic stock on my 22-250 in the middle to late 80s and then put one on a 30-06 a few years later. Then all of my rifles wore synthetic stocks.
Then a few years later I started to see that you could have a wood stock and have it shoot accurately also. A custom built with a beautiful laminated stock was ordered and then a few Coopers came along. There’s nothing like a pretty piece of wood, maybe even some blued steel. Oh, I still have some synthetic/stainless, though the pretty ones are more of a joy to carry in the field. Sometimes you just have to stop and smell the roses. LOL
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so you have to build and shoot what you enjoy.

My varmint rigs and my elk rifle are dressed in wood. I have many synthetic stocks and none warm my heart.

With that said when my fat butt falls down the hill I'm hoping I brought the synthetic.

Chassis, and for that matter any stock with an aluminum bedding block has many advantages.

No gunsmithing. Just assemble and shoot.

If a person were to enjoy a wood stock I would simply say get an aluminum bedding block stock and enjoy many of the same benefits.

However, a chassis such as the MPA allows a PRS style tripod use as a build in... Something else I plan to explore.
