newly released BERGER 184 Hybrid (.284)... preliminary load data and results compared to 180 Hybrid

Catfur,
We are in the process of obtaining the test equipment we need to do just that. However, you cant shoot manuals out of a rifle. So we are concentrating all of our efforts towards bullet production . And are adding machines and employees to increase that even more. We will get a new manual out . When I do not know . But it is a priority to get you guys the product and the information you need to take full advantage of that product . So ! If you do not find the load data you need in the BERGER MANUAL , WEBSITE or VIHTAVOURI website . Please contact us for any UNPUBLISHED LOAD DATA that we may have that cannot be sent out electronically.

I'm happy going off script (stares at stack of 6XC rounds loaded with Berger bullets and H4350 ;) ). I'm just making a generic observation that with so many new Berger bullets, powders and rounds out there, the old Vol. 1 is getting a bit long in the tooth, so to speak...

Yep, We know. And this will be addressed ASAP when we get caught up. Thanks Catfur!

CBASS,
BERGER HYBRID BULLET SEATING DEPTH TESTING : A general rule of thumb with the Berger Elite Hunter and Hybrid Target bullets is to start your bullet seating depth testing at .015" off the lands. Then you work back into the cartridge case in .015" increments (.015",.030", .045", .060"). When you find a bullet seating depth that shows promise, you can test .005" to either side of that CBTO if you wish to see if accuracy can be improved. All bullet seating depth testing is done using the starting powder charge!

Hi, as I told before my 284 Shehane is shooting very good with 180 VLD . I did a test today and it still prefers 180VLD with constant 0,15 MOA at 400 meters (around 440 yards) with 57,5 H4831SC @ 2955 fps . Best result with 180 Hybrid was 0,21 MOA at same distance with 57,8 H4831SC @ 3005 fps and with 184 Hybrid was 0,185 MOA with 57,8 H4831SC @ 2979 fps. It seems they shoot better with 20 thou jump . It was a quick test and further will come this month at 800 yards

Thanks for the Shehane results. I’ve just ran out of the 180s and ran a few 184s to get a feel if I need to work a full reload work up. Just a little Bramley tuner action and they came right in. 44340ED5-E595-44D7-A862-A525ECC2070F.jpeg68C97541-C872-4CC3-A012-1C2BB9F4E92D.jpeg

Great Jerry ! Keep in mind guys. This is all about JERRY'S RIFLE . NOT YOURS. Please follow the HYBRID BULLET load development info posted previously to find what YOU RIFLE LIKES TO BE ITS MOST ACCURATE!!

This thread must be from back in the days when one could get Berger bullets. Berger seems to be just another Winchester these days. I see their bullets in Federal ammo and their own ammo. I don't buy factory ammo for most of my guns.

Ron,
The amount of bullets that go to OEM and our ammunition is infinitesimal compared to the amount of bullets sent out for reloading. We have added more manufacturing capacity and still cannot keep up with demand here. The best bet is to get on all the NOTIFY LISTS you can with BERGER DEALERS here; https://bergerbullets.com/find-a-dealer/dealer-webstores/
Our apologies for this inconvenience in regards to BERGER BULLET avalibility at this time to all who read this.
Thank you.

Just scored 1'500 184's and plan to run them in a .280AI stoked with 4831SC {AR2213SC}.
ADI in OZstralia makes a lot of powder for Hodgdon...
They just relabel it. Think Varget=AR2208.

Anyone out there using them in a .280AI?
Hoping for a bit of load data...
I'm in the build and just waiting for action to complete.
Decision time about twist... Berger box says min. 1:9 but per this discussion over the years 1:8.5 seems to be working and that is what I had planed to order over the 1:8.
Less spin stress and will handle the 168's as well.
Anyone have a different opinion?
Barrel length... 28", 29" or 30"?
This is a new branch from my F Open 6BR as once I go past 600mtrs the 7's are hard to compete against unless conditions are perfect.

1-9 will stabilize fine in a straight 284, Should have no issue in a 280AI.
That said, I have 2 8.5 twist 32" barrels on standby for chambering.

I have previously used them in a 280AI (I'm in NSW mate) and in two barrels (both 32") they liked a 30thou jump. I ran RL23 at the time which worked very well in the 280AI - 2213sc should be fine - consider working up from 55gr.

G'day Willow, Have seen that video and wondered if you have done others...
I'm based at Wingham and compeating against a 7 SAUM with my current 6BR but struggeling after 600yds unless conditions are perfect... Just at Qstore and picked up some 2213SC but unlike the USA {8lbs} it only is available in 1 Kg bottles making the 4 bottles I bought about 20% more expensive than the 4Kgs of 2208 I also bought... As for RL23 or ANY RL that has become "Unobtainium"
Got a bottle of RL17 last year from Qstore but that was it and NIOA just isn't bringing it in...
Primers getting to be a big issue as well... small only at Qstore.
I have picked up a 280AI in Q'ld to tide me over till my US build is complete... {gunsmith is off to S Africa worlds} So I will work up some loads shortly as I got dies, brass and projectiles and about 500 primers with the deal...
Thank you for the loading advice :)

NF Competition with the DDR-2 is my favorite!!
If you have both the 180's and the 184's to choose from which ones are you going to go with? Asking guys more experienced than myself. I have loads that shoot good with each and am scratching my head which to run. Some guys seem to think the 180's agg better.

I can’t tell the difference between the two in terms of on target precision. I do tend to shoot 180s in F Class and the 184s in tactical and LR steel. The 184s have a better BC which helps when you need to make a cold wind call. With flags and spotters it isnt enough to matter IME.
