New to reloading need a mentor

Check your decimals - I think you mean 0.3 grain increments.

FWIW there is no reason to keep going until you see pressure signs. If you see a good node taking shape and the velocity is acceptable, you can continue refining the load at that charge weight and enjoy more safety and longer barrel life.

Agree with this. Lacking the fundamental knowledge and experience at this point it might be unwise to push any limits and rely in reading pressure signs that he may not recognize. I’d probably start with the first accomplishment of creating a safe, minimum charge book load with stated components. Let the experience build from there.

It’s so easy to get distracted as a beginner by reading about all of the different methods of load development and special tools and techniques for accurizing.

So the video says have the die touch the shell holder to resize. When I do that it's way to much and sits way below the line in my head space guage

I have to have it maybe a full turn maybe more to fit the guage
What do your manufacturer instructions say - same as video? If you are getting excessive headspace following the mfr instructions I would give them a call. It may also be your shell holder or your gauge.
Have you tested this with multiple pieces of brass both before and after running through the die?

Yes I have tried different brass before sizing it's to big if I set it to to the gauge it's fine. Factory smk fits the guage the same as resized brass. Is a dillon 3 die set

Remington. It's just once fired brace I have some hornady and federal and pmc I dived to but going to use one head stamp at a time
That’s a good plan. One revolution on a sizing die is .070 (70 thousandths). That’s a lot! Take those oversized cases and whack them with a hammer so you are not tempted to use them.

I am sorry to hear you have not found a mentor. I got the quick and dirty version from my older brother when I was 10. Luckily I liked to read, starting with Lyman, then Hornady and Speer loading books. Having someone onhand speeds up the learning curve, but again, you can learn the the essentials by reading. I taught my buddy to load 308, and his worse problem was over crimping the bullet and bulging the case at the shoulder. All he had to do was ask me and I identified the problem, it will just take you a bit more research and questioning the experts on here. I am not a fan of all the shootings in shytown, but I wish I was there to help you get started. If I or someone else hasn't told you allready, reloading doesn't really save you any money, but you do get to shoot a whole lot more for your buck. Good luck again and check back often to let us know what's happening.

Really not looking to save a whole lot of money just trying to get a really accurate round so I can take some classes and get qualified at the 600 yard range so I can move to 1000 yards

All the shootings happen in 3 main low IQ/ income neighborhoods 95% gang related.

Maybe we should start a discussion about the rifle you are using. This may be a better place to start for you. Give us some specifics: Brand, model #, barrel length, stock, accessories etc.

I'll tell ya, that is a tough one to tame for me. I have one I built(assembled) and the best thing I did with that thing is put an adjustable gas block on it. I either shoot factory ammo or I load up my old Lapua brass, with fifteen or so re-loads on 'em, give them their last rights and send 'em. I can only suggest that if you plan to re-load the fired brass, place a piece of velcro on the shell deflector to keep from denting the cases. Magazine feeding pretty much sets the COAL you can use. Sorry I can't help you with that one, hopefully more experienced AR shooters here can help you.
