New stock duplicator arrived!

It's not that thin, really. I watch the grain more. If I get a grain pattern I don't like, I bury a 3/8 threaded rod set in epoxy thru the grip to the bottom of the action cut. Here are some pics of that area. Behind the grip, I usually have 3/4" of wood at the center of the grip, vertically.

Looks like you're doing some good work there, Josh! My machine is made out of 6" aluminum I-beam welded together; you can see a little of it here:

We've retired from the wood part of the operation, but still manufacture the adjustment hardware. I'd be very happy to answer any questions from anyone doing any stock building!

Steve

Thanks Steve! I had forgotten I started this thread. Thanks for bringing it back!
So.......where’s your old machine? Is it for sale???;)’m setting up a second shop in Texas!

I didn't even realize it was an old posting; I was enthused at looking at the work! Thanks for the offer, Josh, but I spent a lot of time building it, so I'm going to keep it! I am going to be selling my Haas CNC milling machine as soon as we finish the run of adjustable butt assemblies we're working on, though. If you know anyone interested...............
Steve;)

Real nice work Josh. I just joined so I finally got to open up all the pics. Looks great. :)
Im glad Steve brought it back for another look.
Have you used it recently? ~Bob D

Josh... You duplicate any mid grip XP-100 stocks?

I haven’t had the need to. I buy an action and barrel... it needs a stock. Never bought an XP. Thought about it a few times. My duplicator is back east. Send me a PM in Mid May. I might give it a shot.

Bob: Thanks. I’m a work in progress. Have you looked thru the “Do it yourself Stockmaking thread”?

I saw one duplicator where someone had set an angle grinder with one of the chainsaw wheels on it. I imagine that should move a lot of wood fast. It also make me wonder if a belt sander or some kind if sander could be mounted on a duplicator.
