New shooting bench

I have been wanting a stable yet portable shooting bench for a few years now. I recently built this one and it’s perfect for my needs. I bought the leg kit from a member on here. I estimated the dimensions based on a sheet of plywood. I can make three of these from two 4x8 sheets of 1/2” pressure treated. A buddy of mine is a cabinet maker he helped me screw, glue and clamped the top. Then I put three coats of spar varnish on and my wife added the black rubberized top coating. I could build 3 for about $240

Looks good! Is it not "tippy" on the corner without the leg?

The bench looks great but curious about the one corner with no leg, if it might have a tendency to tip? Looks really good though.

I built one very similar. No it’s not tippy. The majority of weight (gun, rest, bag etc) lies one the right side of the table.

I built one last year with those leg brackets. Turned out very stable but I did mount a straight leg on the odd corner just because I guess. LOL.

That benchrest table looks nice. I like the contrast of the lighter color wood edge.

I’m cheap and cobbled this shooting bench from a Black & Decker Workmate a friend gave me. The plywood top is screwed to a piece of pine shelf board I salvage from bathroom remodeling job, clamped between the Workmate jaws. With the legs folded it the perfect hight for a friend’s 10 years old son. That’s his Savage Cub 22LR Youth Rifle. With the deployed it’s the perfect hight for if he rest his feet on the foot rest. For the 5’10” me it’s the perfect hight with the legs deployed.

The back leg could be closer to the middle next to the cutouts and closer to the leading edge of the table. This would give it more balance and still be out of the shooters way.

I used this but it seems like it may peel easily. I didn’t need anything with 3 coats of spar varnish but I didn’t want it slippery.

Love it, mine ran the top length wise and was equipped with an orange Home Depot bucket for a seat Kept it at the farm for when crops were too high to shoot prone.

Bad wording on my part. The legs proper are long and relatively slender, I'm interested in the parts with bolt holes, between the legs and the top, sometimes called "stanchion" or anchor fitting. A picture is worth a thousand words.
