New SEB Smallbore Rest

Occasionally depending on how you rotate the handle the counter weight will hit the bump stop.
That's strange...your comment made me check mine, and no way does mine come close enough to hit anything. I have about 1/4" clearance to the bump stop. It's not the counterweight locking thumb screw hitting is it?
The counterweight should be attached with that screw at the bottom. I just tossed that thumb screw and use the hex head screw only.

I did pretty much the same, but just added another hex head screw in place of the thumb screw. light tension on both.

Yes it is the locking screw part of the time. It is on the bottom but if you rotate the handle enough the locking screw will be on top. If you rotate a certain way the shaft will hit. My wife uses this rest and she was complaining about feeling a bump while aligning a shot. Under normal movement of left right it does not occur, but under other rotations it will. The next time I go to the range I will take a picture for you. We normally shoot on Monday, but we will probably be in the middle of the tropical storm. Yes replacing the thumb screw will probably take care of the majority of the problem. You should not have to be altering a product to make it correct. More testing by actual shooters would have shown the problem. You should be able to rotate your handle 360 degrees both up and down.

@tlbgto you are lucky in one way...your joystick is loose enough to rotate.
Mine never had been like that. In fact, before I adjusted the grub screw that controls the tension I could barely rotate my joystick, even with using the counterweight (and that had to be really tight to avoid slipping around on that front shaft). I could not use the thumb screw on the counterweight shaft as it could not grip tight enough.
The small adjustment I made to the front bearing tension seems to have made mine much better now.

Mine was like that when I received it. Then a piece of Teflon started showing and Chris had it sent to Wyoming for repair. That is fine now as I assume they made that adjustment there.

Gentlemen, thank you very much for your input. I am aware I still have much to learn and I will try my best to improve not just my product but my especially my service moving forward. It appears some joysticks may have larger than intended gap between the center shaft and the joystick head hole. Causing some to experience not just a little but significant play.

I will start the production of extra new joysticks which would take about a month and I will send out official emails to those who have purchased the first batch of the AR250 to offer a free joystick replacement delivered to their address.

For those who would like to get their joystick replacement now please message me your invoice number so I can send over my existing stock of new joystick to you. For those who purchased the rest from someone else please message me your complete shipping address (no PO box), phone number, and email so I can arrange your shipment.

I will do everything in my power to prevent similar events from happening in the future.

The thumb screw does have to point down when you use it as it may hit the stopper if you rotate it and doesn't keep in mind its location. The thumb screw itself is an optional way to attach the counterweight shaft to the center shaft without needing any tool. But should you not want to use the thumb screw you are free to use just set screws on both holes. Which is why i included an additional set screw on the spare accessories bag.

Yes, I just looked at mine and it is only the thumb screw that is hitting. When my wife rotates a certain way it hits every time. Replacing that with the set screw should solve the problem. I just rotated mine and since we received it back from repair it is very smooth and easy to turn. She has shot a 2450 on ARA factory target and 246 on IR50/50 target with a CZ 457 MTR, so she really likes it.

I have shot these targets off mine
A 249 17X IR 50/50 in a match. Several 249 15-16X’s. I have used mine in matches since I’ve had it. I think it functions well and it just works. I don’t think there is an inexpensive joystick rest on the market that compares to it. I’m happy with it.
I’m just a rookie but my rest has not held me back in fact I believe it’s helped me. I am getting better at shooting the RFBR.
I just don’t have pictures of all the targets I’ve shot off it. I think my shooting has been improving and I’m dangerously close to winning a match. The hardest thing is good ammo.

We also put the 3 inch feet from PMA on ours. It’s really makes it stable. Just take it out of the box and set it on the bench and you are ready to go.
