any ideals would be helpful.
i just bought a new nikon monarch 8-32 and put it on my rifle. rifle is a rem 700 , i used leupold bases and ring.
my problem is with these ring , or any one piece ring, the scope will not zero at 100 yards, there isnt enough adjustment in the scope.
i have checked the ring with alignment tool, and everything looked ok, until i tried a two piece base and rings. then i find the back base is lower than the front base by about .026 inch.
i currently have the leupold bsaes and rings on the rifle, with a .026 inch shim under it, it seems to shot ok, 3/4 inch groups with factory ammo, i think the bases are not moving at this time.
ok now what, is it the ction on the 700 that is off, or what. thats what it looks like now. what's the fix with this rifle, is the shims ok or has anyone had any experince with shiming scope bases. have never had this problem before, so any ideals are welcome. thanks to all....
